Can we please just avoid a summer of nonsense from you.

You are a very smart person and a high quality poster, but these side rants you go on drive down the quality of the board drastically.

That would be a terrible trade, we could just sign Lowry outright if we traded Lin for a pick and cut a handful of players. I know people are mad at Parsons for his bad D on that last play, and rightfully so. But lets not forget though that Parsons had a great season, and i still a very good player. Hell, even his playoff stats are still very solid.

Just curious because I'm not too familiar with our cap situation. Can we sign guys like Lowry and Deng outright or do we have to do a sign and trade?

It can be done but it wont be easy.

Were about 5.2 mill over cap, and lowry will demand about 9-10 mill probably.

So if we were to trade, lets say Lin and Motiejunas to a or some teams for just picks and no salary in return we'd have 4.6 mill in cap space. Now trading Lin and Motiejunas for no salary in return would not be a easy task, but it could be done, i can imagine the 76'rs or the Jazz being interested, especially if we throw in some future picks.

So with Lin traded, we would then have to let Hamilton and Garcia go in free agency, thats about another 2.4 mill off, so now we'd have 7 mill in cap space.

We can then cut Casspi, Covington and Powell, thats another 2.3 off. We'd then have roughly 9.3 in cap space. Hopefully that would be enough for Lowry.

That is one scenario, a easier scenario is to trade Lin and Asik, but i think Asik is more valuable then just cap space and it would be wise to keep him. If we wanted, we might be able to swing Asik, Jones and or Parsons for somebody like Love or Milsap later down the road.

I'll feel horrible for Toronto if we grab Lowry from them... they'll go back to sucking... :(

That would probably be pretty hard to pull off, but if they could, this team would be incredible (I would much rather bring in those two than Melo or Love).

Maybe something like Lin for a second rounder just to get rid of his salary to sign Lowry, then Asik + Parsons for Millsap and maybe a first rounder, and try to bring in Thabo to play the 3.

    Lowry
    Harden
    Sefolosha
    Millsap
    Dwight

But they would have to fill the bench with young guys on minimum contracts.

see Lowry stats when he played with gay.

He's a chucker, that's gets hot sometimes, & needs the ball. He's good but not needed in our offense.

Him and harden will not workout, I guarantee it. I will go as far as seeing them getting into it. When either has thee bad shooting, ISO, or TO games. Lowry will not make harden & Howard better.

Rondo can make harden & Howard better.
Rondo isn't worried about scoring points. We don't need him to do that but he still will average more points than bev, and probably 7 more assist per game.

I'm not sold on trading Parsons for Milsap. I think Asik, Jones and first RD picks would be for in his range of value, not sure the Hawks would do it though.

    Lowry/Beverley
    Harden/Daniels
    Parsons
    Milsap
    Howard

Vets would be lined up to fill out the roster, team would be finals bound, even with coach milk hair.

They are both coming. With Millsap and Lowry we just raise our talent and toughness level in the order of 2, enough to blow teams like the Blazers in a sweep fashion.
