LOL this thread just made my day! bobloblaw cracks me up. For the first time ever, I think we have our very first McHale Only Fan! Ahahahahahahahaa *tears coming down my face*
is the only reason to retain him just to let him grow with the team? I guess it'll take another year of failure for them to realize Mchale is not the answer.
I voted yes if it can lure Kevin Love / Melo / Bosh or Rondo....but from ESPN: I would love to have Stan Van Gundy as head coach with JVG as defensive coordinator. I'm pretty sure that as much as Dwight 'loves' McHale he knows he won't win a Championship with a coach who's only plays are Harden Iso, dump it into the post, run it, play harder & no sticky ball...& who's idea of a defensive plan is 'just stay with your man.'
Kevin McHale better have the decency to offer his resignation. Or else there will be many empty seats at Toyota Center next season. Fans vote with their pocketbook. Especially if the Texans have a decent rebuilding season. I'm also following the Texans even if I'm from the Philippines.
Actually I voted yes because I believe Morey is making the correct business deal. When the time comes for the Rockets to look for a better replacement, they would probably be able to negotiate a better contract compared to if they fire McHale and had no coach during the conversation. The last few games into the playoffs seems to also indicate the assistant coaches are not ready to step in as the intern. Unlike some organizations Les will have no problem just paying McHale the rest of his contract so he can leave in a respectful manner. There is no cap for making changes to front office personnel.
Hear, hear! Would rather stay away from the team while Milk Hair is still the coach, than have massive mood swings and anger management issues spawned from his stupidity. JVG's offensive scheme is much better than Milk's whole coaching strategy.
There is not one thing that Mchale could have done this series that would have pleased CFs yalls opinion was made up long ago.
I have to say, for me, that's just not true. while I admit I questioned hiring him, I'm *always* ready to let someone impress me. But ... Harden on Lopez... ****ing up the last play of the season on Lillard. (It's been dissected ad nauseum, and largely correctly around here.) You just have to admit his shortcomings. Maybe some new assistants would be good, but I might go with ALL new assistants. I'll give him this: he seems to be good for Howard overall. Whatever coaches are doing with Howard, please keep doing it. Superman was reborn this postseason.
I wish people would stop with the ridiculous notion of McHale luring Kevin Love. Love ain't a free agent til July 1, 2015. Unless Les and Morey plan to retain McHale for the 2015-16 season(which means giving him a new contract beyond this upcoming year), he's not gonna play any role in getting Love here.
If giving McHale a 3-year extension is the price to pay for Kevin Love coming to the Rockets, then so be it. Heck, if the price for Kevin Love is firing McHale and signing Vinny Del Negro, Morey would do it. And I think it's much more likely that McHale retires at the end of this contract and get a front office position with the Rockets, like VP of Something Something in 2015 anyway. It's not bad to have a respected figurehead like McHale even if you don't believe in his true coaching skills.
