Nook... It's really not as complicated as guys like count_dough_ku are trying to make it... The situation with McHale is simpler... McHale is incompetent... There's a lot of room to work with between incompetence and greatness... so, why stick with incompetence...?
stubborn+ego+incompetence+too incompetent to see own incompetence+office politics. it's been this organizations culture.
I'm sick of hearing this. What's the point in keeping McHale when you have to hire top assistants to help him do his job? Just pathetic.
Who would have thought, we get embarassed in round 2 and Mchale is back. Maybe if we had advanced and been swept by SA he would be gone.
The argument he is "incompetent" is a stronger argument actually. A competent HC can win with a talented veteran team. I am not ready to say he is incompetent... But if that is your argument, I don't agree with it at this point but it at least has a basis for a change.

So are you insinuating that McHale could've coached Doc's 2000 Magic team to a 41-41 record? That he would've led the Celtics to the same successful run from 2008-12? That he would've led the Pistons and Pacers to the Conference Finals in 2003 and 2004? And that he would've coached the 2011 Mavs to the title over the Lakers, Thunder, and Heat? I mean if all it takes is veteran players, then Doc and Carlisle just gravytrained their way to a ring, right?
Rockets' reasons for keeping McHale seem to be that he deserves more time to develop with this roster. My response: this is only Terry Stotts' 2nd year with the Portland Trailblazers.
The decision is so bad....... hopeless for 2014-2015 JVG: Defense Master RA: Princeton Master McFail: "I don't know what to do" master, but still earn his job by unkonwn reason.
So, what's your metric's time limit...? Until Harden is set in his ways at age 30, and Howard is retired...? Only then will you officially accept him as incompetent if he still fails to win ...? Dwight's athleticism and relative quickness has at best two more years, counting next season... Harden's development has just short of that left... You don't see a flaw in your approach...?
Guys it ok, i figured out whats going on here. Morey's going to trade for another superstar, either Rondo, Love, Anthony or somebody else. Morey wants to acquire our 3rd star before signing a long term contract to any certain coach. Morey want's the 3rd star to be a part of acquiring the next coach, along with Howard and Harden. Morey wants to make sure the 3rd star is completely comfortable with the coach, and make sure the coach will know how to use the 3rd star correctly.
Its not like Stotts was very impressive... the only reason Portland won is because their players stepped up and some of ours didn't. Portland didn't have any brilliant strategy or anything, they just made hard shots. I could even argue that Mchale had more strategy and game planning than Stotts did its just his players didn't execute the plan like the Blazers did. But it doesn't really matter, you people are like a mob of frenchman in the revolution just looking for reasons to cut peoples heads off.
oh and R.I.P. Dwright's career, the only chance he get the ring would be in his minimum veteran contract.
Sadly I can't say I'm surprised. ESPN was hinting that McHale is in tight with Alexander so was unlikely to be booted. Guess all we can do is hope for some elite Assistant Coaches to do his job for him. =x
