I think McHale is, at the very best, a below average coach.

Having said that, I'm not turning in my fan card. That's just ridiculous.

What the sound of an owner munching on a pastrami and rye
    gets you excited ?

Les Alexander-best team owner in Houston history.

    grow up.

If McHale is the puppet does that mean we must hate the puppeteer?

We spent the season battling injuries?

Asik.. sure but mostly aside from a Parson back strain and towards the end with bev/howard we were alot more healthy than usual....

OK, I just can't take in this news. Is there any chance the "sources" are mistaken?

Yeah that's hilarious. We were VERY healthy compared to a lot of other Western Conference teams.

we better pray for that same health next season

    Wtf..................

As it is I can't deal with the dagger from last night.

And now McHale is coming back as coach next year?

This is statistically and mentally not even right.

As much as I have been very critical of McHale, I think giving him the last year of the contract is not unreasonable. He is still a very inexperienced coach. It makes sense to give him a chance to prove whether he can improve or whether he really is a bust.

It's funny that there were threads asking whether McHale was a good coach toward the end of the regular season. McHale apologists pointed out that we had one of the best records in Rockets history. McHale had done a good job with this young group. etc. etc.

    Remember this poll?
    http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=252983&highlight=McHale+playoffs

70% voted that he was a "good coach." I said in that thread that I'd wait and see what he could do in the playoffs. I am even willing to give him one more season to see whether he has learned from this series.

Go get Rondo and let him coach our team. Problem solved, we have a very good PG, and a coach. 2 for 1 deal.

I'm not devastated... But I'd like to see Jeff Van Gundy in stead

We need to get a hold of Ja Rule. I wonder what his thoughts are.

For God's sake...hire an assistant coach that knows defensive philosophy and strategy inside out because McHale sure doesn't know jack about instilling a defensive mentality in this team.

Nah, there were injuries. Bev was out for over 20 days. Lin around 10 I think. And Parsons and Harden 8 or 9 each. Howard 7 if I remember right. And yeah, Asik had the most I think at close to 25 or higher.

All of numbers higher than the absences last year. Lin and Asik didn't miss any games last year for starters.

    1. You can't just waste a year of limited combined prime years to see how it goes

    2. History SHOWS us when a coach changes it can take a very talented team over the top. Clippers are much better this year. Jackson to Lakers, etc. It's a THING.
