Destroyed a year of redeeming Jamie's character though He had come a long away from the *ss that pushed Bran out a window now he is right back there Rocket River
I suspect they go off-story often because the books take a convoluted way of pushing the story on and they need something much more succinct to get through a season of story in 10 hours. The memory escapes me now, but I've noticed that in previous seasons and realized doing it 'right' would have taken forever. Look to see if the work this mutineer story does actually enables them to cut out a lot of screen time for other developments.
John snow is truly the son of Ned’s sister Lyanna Stark, and the previous Crown Prince Rhaegar Targaryen, the big brother of Daenerys? if he's not, who are his parents?
any chance that a spinoff show, that shows the events that occurred before robert baratheon became king?
I have a feeling that during the last few seasons there may be a waiting period for the show to wait for George RR Martin to finish the last book. I wouldn't be surprised if they did a Robert's Rebellion prequel to fill the gaps. Or maybe even make it into a movie.
George RR Martin won't finish the last book before this show ends. He works closely with the showrunners, he'll give them the outline of the final book and the show will finish the story. I get the feeling the show is trending to deviation from the books this season, not gigantic changes, but significant. The last book may still be worth reading even after having seen the finale of the show. He just needs to concentrate in getting W of W done before season 7 starts shooting. This show won't wait for his books, and he knows that. In fact I think he's embraced the idea of the show telling the ending more than his books.
if John is really the son of lyanna and rhaegar, he has a true claim to the throne. he is the only one left that can marry a targaryen ( according to their rules). do you see him joining forces with daenerys, conquering the iron throne, and eventually even marrying each other?
The conclusion of the story needs to be done as a movie (or trilogy). They would bank so hard and could really do the epic ending we are all expecting justice with a $150,000,000 budget per movie.
He's doing it to be close to Jon Snow. Since they know Bran and Rickon are alive and went North, they think they went to the Wall to find Jon. That's not the case but the Bolton's don't know that and that's the only lead they have. So the lackey goes to spy on Jon to see if he knows where the boys are. And to do that, he pretty much has to pose as a Watch recruit because they don't have random people just hanging around Castle Black. Everybody there is either a member of the Night's Watch or they're a recruit.
I've heard that GRRM has been writing the remaining stories for each character before moving onto the next person. If this is the case, he may already have a good chunk of the last book done.
Interesting they have exhausted all of Dany's material from the first 4 books already, aside from the Jorah exile. They are probably gonna have to get 2.5 seasons out of ADWD. Methinks George RR Martin hooks them of with WOW material before the books comes out to help get them through season 6. As for the Greyjoys, they are way out in front of the books. I'm guessing Baon dies at seasons end, and Euron and Victarion show up in the power vaccum next season. Properly casting Euron will be huge, because he's gonna have to bring most of the charisma.
I thought it was a reasonably entertaining episode, but a poor adaptation. The whole mutineer story line was the definition of filler material that had an end result of nothing happening. Likewise they kind of wasted Locke's character, when he could have been a longer term thorn in the side for Jon. It seems pretty likely that there will be no Coldhands this season, if ever. I generally liked the Sansa/Littlefinger scenes, but I don't really get why they changed her to his neice. Littlefinger has no siblings that we know about, and if she is his neice that would naturally bring up talk of who her parents are, and why she is with Littlefinger instead of them? Why no one has heard of this sibling or his neice before? It also strips Sansa's experience of living as a commoner, to be treated like a b*stard instead of a noble by the outside world. Lysa telling Sansa not to call her aunt doesn't make much sense if she is Littlefinger's niece, since if Littlefinger is her uncle, Lysa would be her aunt by marriage. Cersei's attempted manipulations of the judges further distanced herself from her book character's style, and it's questionable how much she was really offering the judges that they weren't already lined up to get regardless of her consent. It seems she should have been talking to Mace instead of Margeary at the start, the Tywin discussion was generally fine (except for the whole "the mines are all empty now" thing), and the Oberyn discussion could have used a bit of attempted seduction which TVCersei has pretty much dropped as a tool. The Lannister's mines being dry for 3 years is a fairly silly turn, much like Xaro's "wealthiest man in Qarth is in fact bankrupt" thing -- It would be virtually impossible to hide such a thing in a land where credit cards don't exist, and loans would result in actually getting the gold you borrowed, not just credit for that gold. It seems fairly obvious that the change is there to whitewash Cersei still further. She's not going to tell the Iron Bank she won't pay up because she's recklessly arrogant on the topic... but because she'll have no choice. TVCersei is such a bland character in comparison.
Agreed. The Sansa point went by me .. . but now i do remember she was his b*stard in the book. They have watered down Cersai alot now . .. and it is getting concerning. He manipulations are clumsy now . . .at best Rocket River
Very much so a filler episode. I appreciate the plot reveals, but they seemed underwhelming in the scenes. Craster's place seemed like a total waste of time. I'm curious as to why they've moved so far on some of the plots. Theon's and Dany's are already into fifth book territory. I still think the show is going well, but some of the changes are curious. I'm wondering now if Arya heads towards Braavos by the end of this season.
No they haven't, not yet. Daenerys takes Mereen about 70% through SoS, only a few chapters after the Red Wedding. She doesn't appear in FFC and then DWD is all about her time in Mereen, but nothing from that book has appeared on the show yet. Theon is absent from SOS and FFC before returning in DWD. But a lot of his story in that book deals with remembering what happened to him in that gap. I can understand that they didn't want to have Theon absent from the show for 2 years before bringing him back. So instead of having him remember what Ramsay did to him after the fact, they're using the gap to show that stuff. The first major thing that happens with him in real time in DWD is that he's sent to treat with the Ironborn at Moat Cailin (and the subsequent slaughter of the Ironborn). That hasn't happened yet. Feast for Crows and Dance with Dragons run concurrently, so even if some of the plots from those stories sneak in to the tail end of Season 4 (Storm of Swords), it's not that far off from the chronology of the books.
Even if they're not there yet, saw the producers say somewhere they were combining parts of books 3, 4, and 5 into this season.
