Thanks for the feedback from everyone. I did tell them I would a reduction in hours but also a raise as well for the many accomplishments that I have done for the company. I didn't tell a specific number (20-25%) to them at all. One thing that was very helpful to help my cause was another management person that I work along with came in (Thank Goodness) and gave me very good feedback towards me that I have a lot of tasks/duties on my plate and always staying busy with everything to help the business. We shall see if the good word would help my cause. Yeah, I'm also the IT guy there too and would very crippling if I were to leave. I know our current software system inside and out, the whole network configuration, fixing computers/printers, all the passwords, and troubleshooting experience as well. This is a reason for an increase in my pay. Maybe a job offer or two would think differently of myself. Am I just an asset or employee? And how much would it take to replace someone like myself in my position in the company and provide the same level of success after training/experience? So does anyone have a job opening to fill?
What is your job description? Is being a manager AND the main IT guy both part of your daily responsibilities or do you do the IT work because you realize you are the best person for the job?
Morey thinks your an asset!....:grin: Please don't take this the wrong way, no matter how good you are, everyone is replaceable! But just because you are replaceable doesn't mean you're not valuable, I'm sure there are other company's who would welcome your expertise! How long have you been with this company? ....... ....... .......

Nonsense! We only trade away our lower level assets! You're pure Filet Mignon Baby!... The reason I ask how long you've worked there is that tenure is a two way street! The employee feels I've been here 5yrs, there's no way that there are letting me go! The employer feel's he's been here 5yr's, he's not leaving us! It's a catch 22! That's why having an offer in hand always gives you the upper hand, it shows you are strongly considering leaving! You would not wast your time going on interviews and doing the leg work if you were not serious! Unfortunately for you, I think they view your demands for a raise as a bluff! Be sure to tell them your going to miss me when I'm gone! Just kidding! Think clearly before you make your next move, remember they will be on your resume, so you don't want to leave on bad terms! (If you decide to leave) ....... ....... .......
I agree but it's best to be looking for a better opportunity in a time of curiosity as opposed to a time of need.
If you can help it, don't quit until you have something lined up. At the least, test the market and see what your value is and if you are in demand. You may have plenty of money now but the longer you are out of work, the less desirable you will be to employers. Been there, done that. I was laid off but had plenty of money so I basically coasted for about six months before I even halfway started looking for work. Fast forward to over a year of being unemployed and the pressure started to really mount. I ended up finding a great (at that time) job but I could have just as easily ended up in a really bad situation financially.
Pretty much this, but you do have plenty reason to feel that you need some more incentive from them to keep busting your butt. Me im in construction so im used to getting F***ed over but soon i will be making moves of this sort.
1. As others have said, delegate more. You should only work more than 40 for one or more clear reasons. - short term crisis - you are competing with someone else and there is a significant long term upside for doing it - you really enjoy your job and are clearly valued by mgmt - you just got into mgmt and need to solidify your role on your resume. It's almost always worth kicking butt for a while in a new role. If the above doesn't apply, go find a new job. Life is way too short and there are plenty of fish in the sea.
