Anyone notice how similar the game 6 endings were tonight and in 08 the second time we played the Jazz? They took away Bobby Jackson's three that would have ended the game because AK flopped on Scola off the ball. Not saying Aldridge flopped, but they took away Lin's three that would have ended the game because of an off ball foul. Both game 6.

Guess that should end the debate about why they didn't call the foul on Aldridge and take away Lillard's three. They did it before to us.

Never mind, that was game 2 and we were down 0-1.

We went down 0-2 in that series after this game with the next two in Utah. We won game 3, lost game 4 to go down 3-1. We beat them in game 5 and lost game 6. Exactly what happened in this series.

This is the next series I found that went six games.

We lost the first two at home, won the next 2 in Utah, then lost the next 2. That team had Hakeem, Drexler, and Barkley and they barley pulled out game 4 by three points. Stockton's three god...This series is so similar because of the three pointers in game 6.

The Rockets need to stop losing both home games. Who do we blame? The fans, players, refs? We never seem to get home cooking, but is also because we aren't loud enough? I remember the fans chanted these refs suck several times in games 1 and 2 and I could tell they were loud. I don't blame the fans, but at this rate I think home court advantage is overrated.

The rockets didn't have HCA in 1997. The home team won every game till game 6. Stocktons shot was in Houston (which made it hurt more).

They should have doubled Lillard and singled up everyone else. Lillard is the only person on that team that can be running full speed one way then catch turn and hit from that distance. Parsons just f'ed up by letting Lillard get a step on him and TJones f'ed up by not immediately running at Lillard once he came to get the pass. Just stupid play recognition all the way around.

Damn, how did I miss that.

I guess I got confused as i skimmed through it and read:

    #1.Utah Jazz (4) vs. #3.Houston Rockets (2)

Still. 6 years ago we went through the same exact series in game 6. Wait I can do a better job.

We lost in game 6, 6 years ago in the exact same way we lost in game 6 tonight. L, L, W, L, W, L.

Confirmed--Jazz/Blazers sold their soul to the devil. They made every crazy shot when they needed to come back and win it.

    Final analysis:

    Rockets lose 98-99.

We shot 45.3%, the Blazers 42.7%. The three point game was a wash, except I don't remember the Rockets hitting any threes in the second half other than the one that didn't count.

The Blazers took 82 shots, we took 75. That's 7 less shots.

We out rebounded the Blazers 44-34 (+2 offensive).

We made 19 assists, 5 more than the Blazers. CSN said the Rockets won every game they made 20 assists in, but that's only 2 games.

We turned the ball over 15 (3 more) times. Several of them are bogus because they were fouls/reach ins that were no calls.

Lin's stat sheet is much better than is shows. He had to shoot desperation heaves because he received the ball with 1 second. Those shots went in last game. The one that needed to count didn't. He also got screwed on a few turnovers because he was fouled.

Robin Lopez got 6 freakin' blocks and they blocked us 6 times to our 3. That's bogus. Dwight, Jones, and Asik got called for fouls every time they blocked a shot.

The Blazers shot 90% from the FT line missing only 2 shots. We only shot 74%, but Dwight shot his season average. Lin was 1 away from his average and Jones went 1-2 which is expected.

Howard should have shot way more free throws, imo.

And we still lost by 1.

Parson's stat sheet looks much better than it is. He missed several key lay ups.

Harden's 4 steals is what I am most proud of. I only recall him giving up 1 wide open three to Mathews. Let's hope he comes back next season in shape and steps it up defensively. You don't have to worry about his offense in the playoffs after this game. He has learned how to score without relying on the officials to give him the same calls they gave him all season.

HOU should not rely on inexperienced players like TJone, Bev. and Daniels.

They threw Brooks and Gracia under the bus.

With Hamilton being a complete non-factor and the series being as close as it was, one can't help but wonder if we advance with Aaron Brooks. I believe we do.

I'll shelve the rest of the coulda, woulda, shoulas for now. Going forward this will end up being quite beneficial and will no doubt make for a far more interesting off-season.

For anyone still reeling, may I remind you that this wasn't ever going to be a championship year our Houston Rockets. We have a great core group, but we're still missing a lot of key pieces. Next year though...

Would Mchale have even played Brooks?

    I doubt it.

He only played Brooks when Bev or Lin was hurt.

The one experienced player (Garcia) did not play seemingly at all. I'm wishy washy on Garcia but he has a history of making big plays in these games.

Brooks would have been our best chance against Lillard in the playoffs. He is quick enough to stay with him and contest those shots he closed the games out with.

While Hamilton rots on the bench.

I understand Brooks wanted to play, just give him minutes. He played well.

Brooks was actually the reason I felt pretty confident about the first round of the playoffs. He was that x factor that came up with huge buckets when you needed him to and he takes care of the ball well in crunch time.

Garcia only came up with 1 big rebound in the two games he played. He made a lot of boneheaded plays on defense and he jacked up some bad shots rather than feeding Dwight. He always seems to be looking out for his own numbers because he wants to sign a new contract and the Rockets coaching staff seem to be aware of this. I would argue if we went with Hamilton, D-Mo, or Casspi in games 1 and 2 we would have won at least one of them. At least we would have found out if they could have stepped up for us. Who knows what they are made of now. They had to sit and watch their team lose and I know it must have killed them inside.

    Bummer.
Watched that last bit like 20 times.

I wonder what instructions TJones received, cos he might
as well not have been there.

    _big sigh_
I had not expected the Rockets to win it all this year, so it had to happen eventually.
Was hoping that it'd be a bit later.

Will be interesting in the off season.

I think if we can sign a good SG, it'd be good addition.
I see people here say we need a PG, but I think JHarden
wants to play PG. So you might as well get a SG and let
    him play PG.
Not sure who is in the market.

I also think we need a new coach.
I like McHale as a person and respect his achievements, but if the
    team wants to go further....

    Anyways... till next season.
