I never expected this team to go beyond the 2nd round. For me, it was how much has this team improved since Oct. A lot. It's a lot better of a team.' So, I say it's a success. You can't measure success on a young team the way you do on star laden team like the Nets. Growth is everything.
Definitely Yes, I feel like people expected too much this season. We are still an incredibly young team. One that didn't have the benefits of superstar calls in the post season.
Definitely no We know ISO harden only work for some special season game. We know Morey system is a joke. We know Mchale is like a ****.
The Regular season was a success. The Post season was a failure. I put the post season mainly on the shoulders of McHale. When you lose almost EVERY game by 3 points or less, it's hard not to put it on the coach. Players will run hot and cold and they'll make errors. They do what they do on the floor given their talents and how they've been prepared. Managing minutes, effort, communication, schemes, plays, substitutions and adjustments is 100% on the coach and their staff.
Yea... 6 games in the 1st round. Exact same result last year without Dwight. So yes, this was a disappointing season relative to expectations.
Until we dump "Moreyball", the gimmick "layups and threes" offense, the postseason disappointments will keep repeating over and over again...... I said this prior to this latest collapse.
Good effort? I'm ashamed of you, tinman... Aren't you a proud 99er..? Bandleader of the Clutch city era...? You call Harden, Parsons and Lin laying goose eggs except for one game a piece that amounted to a whopping two wins.... one of which required the invoking of Clutch City by two of it's members prior to the game... and Dwight invoking Linsanity... "great games, good effort"...? Tsk, tsk... Oh, how the mighty have fallen...
Basically yes- failure. I want a new coach.-George Karl. I want to see Lin, Asik gone. I'd like to see Melo here, even though I know he is not the greatest defender. I want Rondo too, even though he sux at free throws. I want to see our player take pride in playing defense in the regular season and playoffs alike. As for the regular season next year - the rockets must show up big against the Clippers and Griz (and all playoff teams tbh) since they really owned us.
I didn't think we weren't going to win a championship. The games were all close and it was awesome we won on clutch city night. oh, troy daniels the future looks bright, we just need to make some adjustments
Oh, Troy Daniels indeed... If not for him and what I mentioned in my previous post this is a 4-0 sweep we're talking about... Come on, now... This was not a good series... and effort was severely lacking throughout, except for one Dwight Howard...
uhh yeah. how could it not be a failure? rockets have been exposed and i hope morey has a busy offseason
you must be confusing effort with just bad basketball, like jeremy lin in game 4, his effort was there
How is some people saying this isn't failure.....? we had HOME COURT ADVANTAGE this series and we lost to a lower seeded team.
The series was a failure. Overall, this is a short-term failure. The good news is losing this series ensures we won't have to deal with a long-term failure which is keeping McHale and Morey/Alexander to stand pat and convincing themselves to keep the team as is.
So you're agreeing with me. That 'total failure' of a Lakers team was swept by the eventual WC champions in round one. They did not have HCA. You cannot say the same about our team. We won only 2 games against an inferior opponent while having home court. BTW, this season's Dwight was miles better than the Lakers version. Didn't matter. We still lost 4-2. As clutch as Portland played, I'd be shocked if they advance to the WCF.
If they had won the first or the second home game, the series would be at 3-3 at worst, whole new outlook It was that close. McHale was not in our favor, the bench was not so much
Lakers were out of the playoff picture and clawed their way back in. It was a small consolation prize
This season was not a failure. If the team was packed with veterans, sure. But we have second round picks playing in our main rotation. Young kids who are just learning to play in the NBA. Although heartbroken, I feel like this season was a success. It's an investment. Next year, this team (if it stays together) will make history.
