What Offseason Moves Do the Rockets Need to Make Going Forward?

#1. Get a REAL coach.

The rest you do as opportunities arise. We won't get any worse if Asik + Lin finish out their contracts. And it's not worth trading them if we don't improve the roster in terms of what we get back.

It's not like there's loads of great FA's that are realistically available this season outside of Melo.

However, we definitely are NOT going anywhere in the play offs without a significantly better Head Coach. That the players did not even KNOW if they were going to switch on the last play of Game 6 alone should be enough reason to replace McHale.

 

i want lin gone just to clean this place up of non-rockets fans..

Harden, Howard, Melo sounds nice.

i think melo stays with knicks now that phil is there. also i heard karl is looking for a more managerial job. won't get it here with morey. my guess:

1) new coach: hollins
2) S&T lin + pick for lowry
3) trade asik + pick for milsapp
4) MLE on pj tucker (got some votes for DPOY and can hit the corner 3)
5) LLE on okafor (only if healthy)

expectations:
all 5 starters can score 25 points on any given night. lowry and milsapp were worth the picks. they also bring much needed defense and toughness. pj tucker received votes for DPOY, but like bev will prob get MLE. LLE on backup center. hollins is a GREAT defensive coach who can also coach offense. this roster is built to excel at both. woodson would make an excellent top assistant with former rockets leading the motivational part of coaching. all in all, very few weaknesses on offense, defense, toughness, and motivation.

Get a new coach, of course, and get a better bench. I love this current team I just think we need a better bench.

 

PF and PG.

I believe their biggest problem is not being held accountable. Parson, Lin, T Jones at times start dominating the ball/try to hard and it gets the rockets out of their rhythm. The three of those guys are good players but, they just dont fit with this team. Outside of Howard and Harden, the rockets need guys who shoot threes, play D and that are athletic enough for transition. I saw too many bad layups or turnovers from those three this post season.

With George Karl we will not panic next year.

 

If we don't get Melo or Rondo then we need to load up on vets.

Guys that have been there and done that. Not all these young guys with their eyes wide open.

Guys that aren't going to run their mouth the entire series and think they are the best SF in the series. Guys that understand that every single possession counts.

Some guys that will be out there.

Bayless - Big time shot maker. Proven
Hinrich - Defensive player, vet
Deng - Obvious
Marion - If Dallas lets him go
Nate Robinson - HUGE playoff performer
Kaman - could be a nice back up big

Guys like this, they aren't big time splash and some are at the end of their careers but they understand how important leads are. They understand team ball and they are never looking to expand their brand.

We have SOO many young guys looking to prove a point. Guys like Jones and PArsons who sometimes think they are going to prove a point. Even Lin admitted that last season he expected more of himself. Young players think they can be stars.

These old vets? They play like Beverly. They play for the team and they know that is what will get them money.

If we don't get Melo or Rondo then we have to go for depth.

 

Honestly it doesn't matter who we get, the Rockets are NEVER going to win a championship playing this type of basketball. Morey is going to have to swallow his pride and just admit he's holding the team back by demanding his coaching staff to play this type of system. This team has no sense of basketball fundamentals and all they want to do is chuck up the first available 3. It's unbelievable just how dumb this team plays.

 

We can't have Melo and Harden. If Melo signs then I'd trade Harden and Jones for Kyrie Irving and Varejao.

Definitely have to try to sign Sefolosha, Tony Allen, or Deng for perimeter D.

And Asik for Millsap.

 

George Karl. Rondo or Lowry. Would love a vet like David West or maybe Scola

 

I prefer rondo over melo honestly. Ball security is crucial in playoff time and Lin and bev just can't do it.
