They achieved home court with the best shooting guard in the league, and arguably the best center. Then proceeded to lose in the first round. That sounds positive to me
Honestly I can't even be mad. The teams were matched very well. Every Rockets' player other than Dwight Howard had very little playoff experience in their *CURRENT* role. The team needed to be humbled. That's all there is too it. In the long run it might be a good thing this happened. They need to learn to come together in the face of adversity. That process has started with this playoff series. The also learned to play a completely new style of basketball. Force feeding Dwight and playing through that. They'll need to master that next year. Obviously, a few holes need to be addressed on the roster during the off-season. These include: 1) a wing defender 2) pf position is a huge hole still 3) we need a consistent spark plug off the bench 4) a bigger focus on defense from our current players not named Dwight Howard. I have faith in Morey to do this. The rest of it is just our players maturing and growing through this heartbreaking series.
I'm normally pretty laid back about the asinine stuff I see here, but really? A newly assembled young team, growing before our eyes and easily making the playoffs is pathetic? Have you ever rooted for a team that has zero chance at a post season? Have you ever played on a losing team? What a sad display of disrespect to a team that clearly played hard tonight.
Proud of what? This team, outside of Dwight Howard (who was exceptional in almost every single game) underachieved big time. Lin only came to play after he blew Game 4, Harden only showed up in the first half of this game, Parsons was an essential non-factor, McHale exhibited almost no ability to help this team maintain a lead... the list goes on and on.
Dude stfu. Rockets where the better team but didn't live up to thier potential. It's a disappointing season.
Maybe I'm alone here but I didn't expect a WCF berth this year. I did expect us to advance, but after watching these games it's pretty clear we're not ready yet (and Portland was much better than I gave them credit for). I just have a hard time playing the "season is a failure" card with such a newly assembled team with lots of potential. Coaching, key roster additions in the off-season and the sky's the limit.
ok regular season record, horrific postseason. enough said. Proud? not that much but hope is still there.
You're probably right. Maybe I've just had enough sports heartbreak in Houston that I'm immune now. I still hate seeing stuff like "failure of a year", "wasted season", etc. You'd think we pulled a 2013 Texans. I guess I'm just a half full guy. I'm not pushing it any more tonight.
Dwight is not a young man anymore. How many years of his prime athletic years does he have left? Cannot waste any more years with Mchale.
Not proud at all, this is the most disappointing team since 98. The Yao tmac era wasn't this disappointing because the team was horrible outside of them. This team just got outclassed no more importantly out coached
This thread depresses me. As Chris Rock would say, "A bunch of low-expectation-having MF'ers". This season was a failure results-wise, nothing more, nothing less.
Anyone who thinks that there were no improvements made from last season to this I is crazy. Losing 2-4 this year is nothing like last year. Still amazed we managed to out score the opponent when losing 4-2.
Losses like this should make a team hungry in the post season. Dwight was a monster this series... Harden decided to play his best game of the playoffs at the last game...and had a monster season... Parsons needs to become humble...Parsons got better offensively, but his defense has been terrible this season... Lin may no longer be on this team next season...and was incosistent for the year Asik after pouting midseason was part of a epic playoff run...and played well Mchale should be fired Monday morning...the worst situational headcoach in basketball... Daniels is gonna be part of the rotation... TJones needs to improve his game all-around... DMo had brief stints, but needs to bulk up and play in the post... The Houston Rockets fought a lot this season... Surely losing to this Portland team hurt, but they played very well, and our boys were inconsistent with the exception of Dwight... You let things like this make you hungry, driven and motivated...Our boys will come back next season and win...I know this thread is too early...but dont know how else to sooth a disappointed heart. But that doesnt take away from a terrific season by your hometown boys. Unfortunately, they took a bad time to go cold in the playoffs...things like that happen. You live from it and move on...Harden and the core is young...Howard's getting a year older...Time for action is now...and Houston has to go all in next year to bring a title to H-Town... Spoiler PS. I am seriously gonna actively participate in investigating leads etc...to check every ref and see if they had any involvement in the outcome of the game due to bias...
