Have you guys noticed that when a Rocket shoots the ball, there is either no one under the basket, or they all start running away as if the entire team thinks there is a 100% chance that the shooter will score? During last nights game, and most others I notice that they are really terribe at getting offensive rebounds. Doesn't Milk Hair notice this too and tell them to stick around in case they need to get an offensive rebound? They could seriously increase thier score by just getting more offensive rebounds and having another chance to shoot.
Well, there are 2 solutions. Either stick around and try for an offensive rebound but risk giving up easy points on a fast break. Or get back on defense and make them work for their points. Some teams are good at getting rebounds AND getting back on defense. The Rockets are one of those teams. This is an area of strength for the Rockets. They are very good at getting back on defense while also getting a good number of offensive rebounds.
You aren't mistaken. We are the #1 rebounding team in the POST season. I think we might even be #1 in offensive rebounding. We out rebound Portland in 4/5 game, both offensive board and total. The only game they out rebound us is G2 by 1 (we still out rebound them on the off glass in that game). I particularly remember that every single player on the Rocket had at least 1 off board in G3. We have avg +6 total rebound and +5 on the off glass per game.
This isn't a problem area at all, but JVG would usually have all his players retreat after a shot. And you better believe McGrady's soft ass mastered that strategy. Sometimes Yao wouldn't even attempt to rebound FT's, and opted to stand at halfcourt.
