Does it seem Durant doesn't get criticized as Lebron did ?

For all the great things we love about Durant , does he not get enough blame for the team not doing more with the talent. Of course Westbrook is a very interesting topic when it comes to the OKC chemistry.

I ask that question all the time, Kevin Durant gets a complete pass from the media, Lebron got beaten into the ground year after year after year. In that 2008-2009 series Lebron loss vs the Magic, he did just about everything a human can do to win that series even though it was a terrible match but all you heard was that Lebron was only the prince and that he cant get it done. KD will get bounced in the 1st round this year and all you will hear is how Westbrook lost the series for the Thunder. Even though without westbrook last year the thunder got creamed.

WB is the more polarizing figure. It explains the reason.

Good point. Also, why doesn't Joe Biden get criticized like Obama?

This was sent out in a tweet. It's from the local OKC fishwrap. I'd say he's getting plenty of blame at least from their own media. And that's harsh. Even Harden isn't getting trashed like that by the H-Town paper or talk shows.

Unlike Lebron, KD did not enter the league with the same hype. LJ signed a $90M endorsement deal without having to play ONE nba game. To put it on perspective, the best NBA player at the time (Kobe) had the highest endorsement from any company and he only got $40M.

Regardless of whether it is right and wrong, the amount of money you get paid dictates fans expectations and obviously, how critical they will be about his performance.

I'll go on record that no player in the last 3 decades has been criticized as much as LeBron has been.

This. LeBron had (still has) a much higher profile than Durant. So when LeBron failed, more people jumped on him.

Lebron had "chosen one" tattooed on his back

Durant just wants to be a slave or servant or maid or something

Yeah i mean,i don't think any athlete has ever had expectations close to what lebron had/has. He was known internationally as a jr in hs. And that was pre youtube/twitter/etc. He stood out in one of the best draft classes ever. He was a man coming out of high school.

Nobody heard of Durant until he was at Texas. He didn't even go number 1.

It's definitely unfair, but LeBron i think has handled it well.

Durant didn't trade away Harden, why should he be blamed?

In addition to what some posters have mentioned, year in year out, you have sub .500 teams in the East make the playoffs which means a much easier road to the finals. In the West you have teams above .500 that miss the playoffs and get stuck in the lottery.

Just look at this year's playoffs. West's #8 seed (Dallas) would have been the #3 seed in the East. West's #7 seed (Memphis) had a 50 win season. Only Indy and Miami had more than 50 wins, and the west had 7.

So yeah... I can see why Lebron would get more criticism than KD.

    1) LeBron James was the most hyped HS player I've seen. He was King James & the Chosen One before he ever stepped onto an NBA court. As such, he's been compared to Jordan since day 1.

    2) James got a bad wrap early on for not being clutch. Keep in mind he was being compared to Jordan, who had the shot over Elo, The Flu Game, & his final shot (sort of). Didn't help that James' teammates missed shots when he passed, while Paxson & Kerr made their shots.

    3) Once he left Cleveland, he became the bad guy.
