Scott Brooks looks bad compared to Pop/Carlise. But McHale's bad coaching is on a totally different level.
I don't think Harden's game will age well. He already plays no defense. He basically relies on his quick first step for any creation at all. Westbrook has similar problems too.
Harden would need to develop a post-up game... something he does have the body for, and should probably do it sooner rather than later. Westbrook is too athletic... he's a freak... and he still doesn't know how to play under control.
You sure about that? I think McHale is dreadful and needs to go(barring a miracle comeback and at least a competitive series with the Spurs which is still very unlikely), but even he's better than Scotty Brooks. Has Brooks made any adjustments in this series? At least McHale plugged Asik into the starting lineup, benched Cisco in favor of Daniels, and started double-teaming Lillard and other Blazers guards out beyond the 3-point line to disrupt their offense.
That sounds a lot like the Rudy Gay defenders' argument. Rudy left two teams and was not replaced by a shot creator. Both Memphis and Toronto seem to be doing fine finding efficient shots. WB is a good player, but he takes way too many shots for his efficiency IMO.
Umm.. Toronto is one of the worst shooting teams in the league. Their best 2 players are Lowry and Derozan, who are inefficient players. Secondly, OKC is doing better v. Memphis WITH WB than without.
Can't believe some people here are putting the blame on Kevin Durant LOL. So he has a horrible playoff performance, so what? The guy has been a total trooper since he was drafted, this series is the first time I've seen have consecutive bad games. Ironically enough he's paying for it by getting the Lebron treatment, people get so used to him being so dominant he actually gets criticized when he doesn't put up video game numbers. At the end of the day Kevin Durant is only human, there will be times when he will be in a funk and/or playing badly. The question shouldn't be what is he gonna do about it, rather people should be asking what WestBrick should be doing about it. All throughout his career WB has been doing nothing but riding on the coattails of Kevin Durant, if you look at what people write about him they talk about his "heart" and "determination" and "will to win", but the reality is this guy has a career FG 0.43%. Seriously, there has to be a point where you stop with the "mental fortitude" BS and look at reality, and that reality is saying WB has been jacking up way too many shots when he can't put it in the hole in the first place. What kind of deal is that, Melo gets a ton of flak from being inefficient and yet he blows WB out of the water efficiency wise. This is the chance for WB to prove his haters wrong, I mean KD did it when he was out and carried the team to victory numerous times. And yet even when KD is guarded by the best defender on the Grizz WB is actually posting worse numbers, KD's TS is 49% not amazing but not totally bad for someone drawing almost all of the opponent's D. WB's TS%? 0.439. And people here are saying we should trade Harden for this chump? b**** please, even with Harden being in a funk his TS% of 0.471 is still better than WestBrick. Everything I said can easily be checked below, more than heart or determination or whatever you need to actually bring it on the b-ball court, and a crappy TS% of 0.439 isn't bringing it at all: http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/w/westbru01.html
If Lowry and Derozan are inefficient players WB doesn't deserve to be in the NBA: Derozan's Playoff TS%: .531 Lowry's Playoff TS%: 0.616 WB's Playoff TS%: 0.439
