It is part of Morey's fault. Because clearly in mid-season, everybody saw that Harden couldn't play defense, the team perimeter defense is terrible. Harden is just as is, can't change him. Beverley is a surprise, but you just can NOT rely on your PG to anchor your perimeter defense as he is too short. What did Morey do? absolutely NOTHING, he could get a defensive SF but he did not. Now this team's perimeter defense is exposed. This Rox team just can't hold any lead over the last 5 minutes of the game. The team can't make a stop. In last game, according to McHale, he had to play Lin for defensive purpose because nobody else can, which leads to the mistake that squanders the best winning opportunity. By the way, I have absolutely no confidence this team can hold Portland off for the last 35 seconds even if Lin called that timeout. This team can't stop any team. So Morey has to take part of the blame. If Morey does not get Rox a defensive SF during the off season, Morey would also have to go as well.

So Morey is to blame b/c Harden doesn't want to put forth the effort to play defense? That's on the coach for not holding him accountable and allowing him to do whatever he wanted the entire regular season, so he's not going to change now. Yes, Morey has his faults and has made some mistakes, but if he left whose out there that's better to take over. NO ONE. With that being said, I didn't like Morey's tweet about our games being a coin flip. The Rockets have been leading in most of the games but can't close it out do to poor game management decisions by McHale. The Rockets have been a bad 4th quarter team the entire year and nothing has changed since.
This is my biggest beef with Morey - McHale was his hire - my guess is to let the team tank and keep the interviews light hearted, then we got Harden and Howard, but we still have a tanking coach - time to upgrade. DD
