    A better policy would be to acknowledge the mistake AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

    Saying "I'm sorry" and keep on business as usual is worse than not saying anything.

    You know, back in the '80's, a friend of mine laughed at me for investing so much emotion into the NBA. He said, "The game is fixed." I argued heatedly with him that he's dumb to think that they could fix the game of basketball like it's pro wrestling.

    Now I'm feeling more and more that I was the dumb one.

    Going back after the fact is hard, though. It is really impossible to say what would have happened afterwards. Blazers still might have won the game... it's pretty plausible. The science of probability would say that things that happen earlier in the game have meaningfully less impact than things that happen late.

    But what the NBA can do about it, is beef up their instant replay rules.
    The challenge "flag". It should be a no brainer. Yes, there'd have to be some stipulations around how it works, but so what. It'd at least be better.

    After losing the series, all the biased calls...refs not calling the LMA pushoff as an offensive foul & watching the refs try their hardest to stifle Dwight Howard this is how an official NBA Apology feels:
