Well if Lin shows up and plays like he did in the beginning of the year we'll run Portland out of the arena. Otherwise keep him on the pine. There just was no reason to put him in there, you could have put any big body back in just to stick your man and go for the Defensive rebound
What's your opinion on Harden? His constant lack of defence is hurting us way more than a few bonehead plays by Lin. If Harden actually tried to defend we wouldn't be in situations where a single turnover becomes 'critical'.
Lins has a chance for redemption and it starts with tonight. lets see if he takes a step towards greatness tonight. Unlikely? Yes. But there is always a chance....
1. Why are you trying to talk about Harden in a Lin thread? 2. You can find my views in Harden in relevant threads.
What makes you think Lin's a ball handler either? He keeps his head down when he dribbles and often jumps in the air to pass. It's one thing to dribble with your head down, when you're Clyde the Glide. Lin isn't going up to throw down on the big men, though. Linsanity ended when the NBA figured out Lin has questionable handles and can't shoot a 3. Now, they back-off of him and go for the steal if he forces a drive. The thing about the NBA is that you can look great for a while. If you have a major hole in your game (or two), though, it will be exposed constantly until you close it.
Reading this entire thread is making me LOL. Basketball is just a game, there are a lot more worthwhile things on this earth to enjoy and experience. It's not the end of life when we lose, the sun will rise to start the day, count your blessings that you are still alive and breathing.
Reading this entire post is making me LOL. You are on a community forum dedicated to the Houston Rockets and Basketball, inhabited by a multitude of die hard, passionate fans. You want to talk about stuff you consider worthwhile or about life stuff, there are other communities for that, so take that dumb **** elsewhere.
Anyone watch the Thunder vs. Grizzlies last night? Mike Conley had an absolute brutal TO with about 10 seconds to go in the game. Because of the shot clock differential, OKC was still probably going to get 1 more possession, but his team was up by 2 and a basket would've almost certainly sealed the game. So what does he do? He loses it to Westbrook at the top of the 3 point line, leading to an uncontested slam dunk for Westbrook. That's pretty much the absolute worst play that he could've done at that point. But what do the Grizz do? Do they wilt and give up as if they lost their one and only chance to win the game? No, Mike Miller hits 2 threes in a row at the start of OT, and they play tenacious defense to keep the Thunder on lockdown. My point is not that Lin should be absolved. But his teammates had ample opportunity to negate his mistake, as teammates are supposed to do (e.g. Lin recovering Harden's devastating TO in game 3). Blame them plenty too.
So it's the rest of the team's responsibility to constantly clean up the messes left by Lin? Sorry, but that ain't gonna fly. Yes, these guys have to pick up the slack for each other(that's what it is to be a team). But Lin has f'ed up in the final minute of regulation in 3 straight games. At some point he either needs to get his own sh-t in order or he needs to be relegated to the bench.
If you were more objective, you'd see that lots of other players have screwed up in the final minute of games too, whether it be passing the ball before a TO is called so that they can't advance the ball, not playing defense, jacking up terrible low% shots, and losing the ball.
That's not the way the game works. There are always critical moments that can or may aid in the outcome of a case. For example, you could defend Nick Anderson ' s 4 missed free throws at the end of regular time as a non - factor ONLY If the Magic could score an extra basket, say, in the second quarter. It doesn't work that way. History has shown that Nick the Brick just chocked 4 straight fts, any of which could have likely sealed the deal against us in that 1995 finals first game. Lin messed badly in that play and admitted as much, and likely cost us the game and perhaps the series. Rockets going home 2-2, instead of being down 1-3, is an ocean of difference.
Yummy, you have gotten a lot better as a poster, but God has nothing to do with a NBA game. OTOH, Joey Crawford might.
Maybe the Rockets could've shown the skill and heart of an #8 seed with no offensive superstar, and won the game anyway. But what I am saying? It's as if Lin scored an own-basket with less than a second remaining, then proceeded to goaltend every shot made by his own team to gift the win to the other side. The Rockets are so fragile that everything has to go absolutely perfect for them to beat the legendary 2014 Portland Trailblazers. Amirite?
Lol yes I'm sure throughout this entire thread there is no mention of any other person other than Lin. Nice way to avoid the question.
I didn't avoid the question seeing as I have already answered them before. My posts are public for everyone to see and I am hardly going to waste my time repeating them. If you want to find out what I thought about Harden, go look up my posts. It's that simple.
It is how it works, Lin made a r****ded play that lead to 3 points at the end of regulation. We didn't even lose in regulation there was still overtime. But how many points have we given away because of has Harden's lack of defence not only in the last game but the entire series? Not to mention the 67 shots he's missed. You can't say that 1 bonehead play single-handedly cost us the game because this is basketball where hundreds of points are scored throughout the game. Maybe in soccer if the game is tied 0–0 and in the last minute the keeper throws the ball into his own goal, maybe then you could say 1 play, 1 player single-handedly cost his team the game but definitely not in this case.
thanks pal. I'm a Lin fan but at least I'm not a biased LOF. I just want the rockets to win really. So much bs has happened this series. The reffing, the Mo williams trash talk. has more drama than the young and the restless. so far the ending isn't looking good but the rockets will spam hard. just hope that mchale doesn't mess up something that is going well (ie parsons hot hand and then is no longer fed, or decides to dump ball to dwight in crunch time min etc)
might i also add that going on the road at 2-0 (or even 1-1) is a world of difference than going on the road at 0-2.
