Not gonna happen. Even being second fiddle in LA is still bigger than being in Seattle.

I can't speak to that because I don't know what the Kroger franchise agreement would look like. I was talking about a privately owned Kroger.

In the case of the NBA, the rules don't let them get rid of an owner unless certain parameters exist. I can't see how any court would ever agree that the rules set forth in the ownership agreements are reached by him having a racist conversation with his girlfriend.

That, and the fact Sterling remained silent. Most times a person can apologize their way out of the maximum penalty. I guess Sterling didn't care. So, I'm sure that forced Silver's hand, too.

Shocking he showed no remorse. Silver had no choice probably based on how nonchalant DS was during his conversation.

Whoever said Clayton Bigsby complex is right on. I bet DS hates who he is.

Seattle is a pretty cool city though and not too small of a market.

Make the owner voting public and he is gone.

Lol Inside Edition reporter asked the toughest question...DS is a racist slumlord and the NBA did nothing.

I think that they probably talked to Sterling- he didn't deny saying that stuff, and he probably talked to every one of the owners about it, and I'm sure his decision was based on that.

It's one of those things where even if he made a joke, I'm sure it wouldn't be lifetime. But you have a person saying he doesn't want black people at his games, among other things. I don't know it would be possible to keep someone like that as an owner in a league that is, what, 80+% African-American? You couldn't really get any black player to play on his team, and you'd have a major problem with not only getting African-American individuals to come to your games, but also anyone who vehemently opposes his racist comments- which I would think in the NBA audience is even more than, say, baseball (although that's probably unfair of me to say).

It's such a mess all around that I think this is the only way to clean it up. Good decision.

Actually there are bylaws in the NBA to allow for this. Watch and see, Sterling is done in the NBA. What will be interesting to watch is, will he fight or will he do the smart thing and take his money and disappear.

For Sterling, fighting will be the equivalent of rolling around in $hit wearing a wedding gown on national television. I personally would find it entertaining to watch a guy like that get destroyed publicly.

We all assume that the players actually knew about that though and sometimes they barely know the players on the opposing team. Think about that.

Sometimes college players barely know much about the team they are going to. Listen to Marcus Morris when he was drafted to the Rockets. He barely knew much about them IIRC.

Stephen A bought up a good point about it yesterday about whether Chris Paul knew. He said that Chris could have asked but then again...Sterling's response could have been, "Wasn't found guilty of it oh did you see this NAACP lifetime award I've received?"

It's smaller than Houston and he allegedly refused to play here because he wanted a bigger market.

It would serve him right if he ended up in a smaller market, lost marketing deals and all that.

Everything about this affair is unseemly, from Sterling himself, to being set up with a privately recorded conversation, to the fascist way in which the league dealt with someone for holding unpopular private beliefs, to the faux outrage in the media who all knew about this guy.

$12 million in 1981 would be over $31 million nowadays.

Sterling has to sell the team if Doc is going to leave after this year, and other people are not going to take the coach position (it is possible). You can not run a NBA team without a coach.

Silver is all about transparency, I expect he does this.

All the people that are so mad that the NBA didn't react to this earlier should blame themselves. They weren't marching in front of the Staples center either.

Sterling doesn't own an NBA business: He owns a franchise that he licenses from the NBA. The other owners can force him to give up his franchise license, by selling it.
