The fact that Sterling owned up to the tapes so easily makes me think he won't fight this. If he's really as miserable a person as he seems, maybe he's come to some sort of self-realization and doesn't care anymore.

Not really. That kind of bugged me too, but it's a private league that the owners have to allow you to be in. If you F up and make 3/4 of them no longer want to be associated with you, how is that wrong? Those are the rules of the league.

I full expect the Seattle guys to jump in this bidding war and possibly win it. Even if Magic Johnson comes at the team with the Dodgers group, the Clippers will ALWAYS be second-fiddle in Los Angeles. They don't have their own arena and their TV deal is nothing compared to the Lakers. In the modern NBA, that's where the money is. Seattle would offer $1 billion+ to buy the team, a brand new building, a rabid fan base and a strong regional TV deal like the Mariners. The NBA can make the Seattle situation go away too if they sell what has historically been a 30-year embarrassment to a group desperate for a team.

Hell no, you can't. You can't take someone's private business away from them for being an ahole outside of the NBA and you can't do it in the NBA according to their bylaws. You can boycott the business and lead it to financial ruin, but nobody can just come in and say "You are a racist so we are taking control of your grocery store."

The LA chapter of the NAACP, which is just a bunch of uncle toms anyway. Sterling has a history of racial discrimination already with his real estate empire. That charity work was a front, clearly.

Strong move by Silver. I think once some of the powerful NBA figures, like Lebron and Magic, came out and said Sterling had to go then it really forced Silver's hand. Safe to say the players will be happy with this move.

This would be so awesome. Can you imagine the devastating blow this would be for Chris Paul who nuked a team in order to get himself to LA? Now he ends up in Seattle? LOL!

Being a racist isn't illegal. It's only when people take racist actions.

What doesn't sit well is the mob mentality and grand standing that's going on right now.

All these Clippers employees, need to sit down. They knew who he was and were happy to sign their contracts. Griffin & Jordan get a pass because of their situation.

Where was the genuine outrage on the more serious life matter when he denied people housing because of his racism?

I'm absolutely not defending Sterling and am glad the NBA is taking action against him but I do question the motives.

If that grocery store you owned was a Krogers franchise, that was part of the larger Kroger brand....yes, they absolutely could take your store away.

    Ah yes, misunderstood.

I really hope they are just going to reach a deal and he'll sell the team. That would be great for everyone involved and would be a win for the NBA.

Yes. Do some research on public figures and private citizens. Sterling is a public figure. We are joe6packs.
