He already has. He has given millions to minority causes, he was set to receive a lifetime achievement award from the NAACP TODAY!

I'm not sure how the NBA can enforce this ban...pretty sure their bylaws only allow an owner to be removed for three reasons: financial inability to run a team, gambling, and tampering with a game outcome. How do you punish a guy for private statements illegally recorded in his own home?! Had he been at the grocery store and someone overheard him, this would be a different case, but this stinks of a violation of Sterling's rights. He definitely has the money to fight it, and I would expect him to win, but is it worth it? Not if they're going to pay you a BILLION dollars for your team!

Conspiracy theory: The wife (soon to be ex) and the girl are in on it, baited him to speak about his racist views (I think we all agree the guy is a racist -- even before this), and now she'll get even MORE money from the divorce (which she can split with the skank). I had actually heard that the divorce proceedings were moving slowly specifically because they couldn't get the amount they wanted because his money and income is locked up with the team.

Probably was just the skank girlfriend.

"I fully expect to get the support I need from owners to remove him."

    Silver throwing down.

That's to remove him as owner. This ban doesn't remove him and is within the scope of the power granted to the commissioner.

I'm not trying to be devil's advocate but if his former GM, Elgin Baylor (top 50 player of all time) filed a suit against him for racial discrimination (among other things) wouldn't that cause for some kind of fact finding by, say, Doc Rivers? I, mean, Rivers was a player for the Clippers when Baylor was GM.....wouldn't you kind of want to know what happened to your GM that made him file a lawsuit against an owner after 22 years of service?

Again, not trying to stir things up but I fail to believe that NBA players don't follow the league as much as we think they do. If anything, I'd expect them to follow their own team closely.

I might be by myself on this one, but this is just wrong on both sides.

Words in a private setting are brought to light, and he is being punished for it?

Don't get me wrong, he should be banned from the league, but what are the legal ramifications of this? Tape recorded without his consent, and banned from the league? That's bull****! Lol

Why wouldn't they? It's a "LA" franchise, with a new stadium that you pay half the costs on. Oh, and it has two star players on the roster, one being young.

TMZ was reporting this morning that if you listen to the entire tape, that it's very clear he was aware he was being recorded.

man, really hope the clips can stay or move to seattle.

i really don't want the team to be disbanded and already pose a threat to our team

i would sing a different tune if we got cp3 however

I totally disgreed with what Sterling said BUT can you really kick an owner out the league for your thoughts/ beliefs/ morals?

Yeah...The fine is like a parking ticket for him. Wonder how Sterling will take the lifetime ban. Litigate or just accept, move on and pocket one billion plus. My guess: bidding war eeasily reaches $1.3B.

The hell you can't. You can kick a player off a team for it. The game is about advertising.

Not only that, but all the ex players and commentators who have spoken about this have said it was common knowledge.

Rivers should have known...but I don't think the players should.

I don't expect the players to do that research on Sterling and if they did and asked the question Sterling could have just told them that he wasn't found guilty of it and could wave his NAACP lifetime award around for proof. He could have slimed his way out of such a situation.

Speaking of Baylor...how long was he the GM there again?
