If this happens, Adam Silver has got some big cajoles. Like I said before, Sterling is done. The only question is whether he will be smart enough to sell ASAP or stay and litigate.

LOL @ new report that he didn't want to pay 7 million for a white player in Reddick. Can you say, plantation owner who only wants black people to do the dirty work?

Perhaps, but it would be a thin line. He can't sue the commissioner for his punishment, but if the league terminates his franchise he could absolutely sue. They would have to prove that what he did actually rises to the level of what is described in Paragraph 13.

Telling his girlfriend not to bring black men to a game or take pictures of them is a long stretch to "failing to fulfill a contractual obligation" or conducting business on a "reasonable" or "ethical" level. What he believes and tells his girlfriend to do has nothing to do with how he has run the Clippers.

It can't in a court of law. But this isn't a court of law.

Or it's the media piling on. Even in that article that claimed it the writer said "sure, maybe he didn't want to give up on Eric Bledsode and pay 7 million to JJ Reddick...or maybe it was really because he was a racist that only liked black athletes!!!"

Good point but couldn't this be brought up if Silver/NBA/owners vote to terminate his ownership and Sterling decides to sue the NBA?

I agree because unless Sterling actually put people at his ticket box office telling them to turn away minorities, he's not really running his franchise in "unethical" terms.

Of course the Marge Schott fiasco in Cincy back in the day tells me that anything and everything could happen against Sterling. That $700+ windfall for selling the franchise is the "worst" thing that could happen to him.

I agree. Guess, we'll have to wait and see what the outcome will be.

Just curious, Kareem (and others) says Sterling's behavior has been obvious for years but no one said anything until this media blow-up. Any other racist, crazy owners out there that no one is talking about? Any other franchises going to be sold off?

My guess is that the answer is no, but I had no awareness of Sterling's behavior so I assume there are other disreputable owners I have no awareness of either.

I'm not gonna say anyone else is racist or crazy, but I will say I'll be ver surprised to see 75% of the owners agree to take someone's team based on morality issues.

Will the Silver conference be on-line?

5 million dollar fine, loss of all endorsements, coach and players wanting out, no players of relevance wanting to play there again, no longer being able to attend a games, the public humiliation he'll now finally endure for the rest of his life...I'm enjoying this.

So what exactly does a suspension do?

He doesnt even run the operations. The suspension means nothing when his family are the ones doing it

This is all I could find

SUSPENSIONS: There is precedent, in the NBA and other professional sports leagues, for an owner to be suspended. If Sterling is suspended, he would be unable to attend games or team functions for the duration of the suspension and would likely have to appoint someone to take over the day-to-day operations of the team.
