This team is on the clock before Howard hits his decline and we need to "complete" the team now.

It boggles my mind people think Kevin Love is the perfect fit but Melo is a complete mismatch. Melo can pretty much do anything Love can do. He rebounds less, but he is just as good of a "stretch four" and has a much more refined post game. For the record I do agree Love is a perfect fit, but 100% having Melo in 2014 is better than "a shot" at Love in 2015.

Hell, maybe Carmelo is tired of being the number one option and having to put up 30 points for his team to win. Maybe he is tired of being the defensive game plan of the other team.

Nope he would be our 4. He's played the last two seasons at the 4 for NYK.

And yes for the ten thousandth time you can keep Parsons and sign Melo and then go over the cap to resign Parsons.

 

after watching Melo for 3 yrs on the Knicks, I can say he's not a ball hog... He's a VERY willing passer when he has someone to pass it to.

Unfortunately for him... the way the Knicks roster was constructed he has to take most of the shots... play most of the mins.

If JR Smith or Shumper (or Felton) were better shooters, Melo's assist numbers would be around 4-5 per/game.

Melo and Stat on the floor are kinda redundant... they take the same shots, and like to get fed in the post...it's just Melo is a way better scorer...and Stat has no idea how to play off the ball (to be fair he's a good garbage/clean up scorer and a wonderful P&R foward)... I think Harden and Melo would be a really good combo as long as Harden accepts the fact that the ball should go "in then out" I believe Harden's 3P% would skyrocket (no pun intended) because of teams needing to double Melo in the post.

The odd dynamic would be how Melo would play with a scoring Center in Howard, who himself likes to get it in the post, I'm unsure how what would work.

You guys already harp on harden for his Iso and "selfish" play, and you want to bring in a guy who scored 60+ points in a game with 0 assists?

 

harden has people to pass it too. melo doesn't.

I don't know if I want Parsons anymore. I'm not saying he doesn't do valuable things for this team, but he's gonna be demanding 10 mil a year(i.e. Batum money) and someone in the league is likely to give that to him. I'd rather it not be us. I'd much prefer that money be spent elsewhere.

Why is this a GOOD NEW??!! Melo is a head case who doesn't play team ball, jacks up tons of shots and plays ZERO defense. A slightly better version of Harden.

People, just because he has the status of All-Star attached to his name doesn't mean we want him. We want to win a championship not just win a bunch of regular season games - which is what we are doing right now.

Melo will bring some Ws in the regular season but he will not take our team to the next level. He is a great player on his own but he doesn't fit into our team. We need to stop going after these selfish, low IQ players and get someone who can actually make the team better as a whole.
