RIP, he was a great basketball guy. Too bad the media is obsessed with some crazy owner and something he said behind closed doors. This man should be honored at game 5.
Oh no. I remember watching his tapes back in the 90s and looking up to him. I do not know much about his career but he was a passionate teacher with a lot of knowledge.aRIP
His Blazers squads back in the 70s were the first NBA teams I rooted for. In more recent years, loved his radio broadcasts with Jim Durham. Very sad when he announced the cancer last year.
I want to take this sad opportunity to let the record show I almost completely agree with you, rudan. Dr. Jack passing is a very, very sad and momentous day for the NBA. Think of the longevity and impact of his career? How many people his age could stay relevant in a broadcast booth to much younger generations? He accomplished this with ease and kept teaching basketball the whole time. A very recent video about his life! <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/vYTaF_yVhTc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
and for the record, Bill Walton and Ramsey swept the Jabbar-led Lakers (MVP of the league) in the WCF that year. 4-0
The NBA has lost a true icon & a class act. He will be missed. He & his family & friends will be in my prayers.
That was great as was beating the star-studded 76ers in the Finals. Dr. J played like a monster and I felt sorry for him, but I wanted the Blazers to pull the upset. I can't remember such a dominant player ever losing in the Finals. He was better than any two other players on either side.
I'm gonna miss him. I listened to him all the time on the radio and he was so fantastic. He lost his wife recently so I guess they'll be together again. What a great basketball mind.

Count down until some jackass adds him to the blue hair list of Rick Adelman and George Karl as a possible "upgrade" to McHale.
