Fire Mchale and try to hire Doc Rivers. I believe this would entice Melo to come play for Houston.

Lowry is a damned good player - tough, smart and plays with passion. However, he does NOT get the respect by the league officials because he is considered second tier - he does not have star status and this bias would hurt us in the playoffs with fewer ft attempts. We need rondo. Irony is that rondo is not great from the charity line:(

Deron Williams?? He is a much better free throw shooter and would get more calls than Lowry.

After what iv seen from Parsons the last 3months don't mind of we need to put him in a deal. With his good contract Knicks or any other partner would be happy to take him. Only if it's the last hurdle to get Melo or another max guy is all in saying.

Go after -- it doesn't mean they'll get him. And I'm pretty sure they're going to pursue him (and others) regardless.

I am more interested in getting Lowry who is cheap, and can play a tough defense.

Making it to the second round of the East isn't necessarily impressive

I'm not crazy about aquiring Carmelo. I mean Harden and Howard and Melo on the floor together. I could see them kill each other for the ball. That being said he is a great player and worse comes to worse you can use Harden or Melo as a trade chip for another superstar. The playoffs have shown one thing. Howard is star 1.

    Yes, and no.

Carmelo is much more expensive, the team will be in a huge problem if thing is not going to worked out.

Lowry's market would be not great since most of team already have the PGs, so we may be able to have him at a fair price.

Having said that, I am willing to have Carmelo if NY is willing to take Lin, Jone, Asik and a pick.

At this point I'm willing to say Melo is a side-grade from Parsons on defense. However, losing Asik would hurt... a lot.

The Bulls are cheap as hell, no question, which probably the biggest obstacle. I don't really think Derrick Rose is the drawing card anymore - Thibs has turned them into a plug-n-play type team that's always going to have a chance based on defense alone. Add an elite offensive player like Anthony and they'd be cruising toward a date with Miami right now, even without Rose

It would be Morey's job to replace Asik.

the thing is, you should actually be able to find a moderately decent backup defensive center. The TWolves found one in the draft. The Blazers found one in Lopez.

I'm not saying they grow on trees, but Asik's contract and value is disproportionate to his use on this team, this series notwithstanding (where despite being inserted into the starting lineup, he still hasn't been that good).

Nothing cheap about Lowry this summer. No MLE is going to get him.

A first round exit may facilitate a greater magnitude of change(s) than would a hard fought 2nd round exit.

I have never felt that McHale not being there in October was ever in doubt (in my mind), till now. I just cant see them feeling like a 3rd star is the only way to fix things. Firstly, the Rockets braintrust needs to gain consensus on what wrong.

This maybe a case where its not the parts that need replacing but how they function together. I look at our lineup, and just shake my head that this series vs the Blazers is probably lost. It just feels like the talent we have wasn't utilized fully. That points to leadership (coaching) or player cohesion (chemistry). Obviously the two overlap for one of the coaches responsibilities is to find a way for the team to work together fully.

I am having a hard time feeling like adding more talent in the way of Melo is really shoring up our weakest link. Not quite saying he couldn't make an impact. But having more talent isn't the same as being better. Which will Melo bring?

    Now this is interesting...

McHale is good as gone and Lowry I think would love to come back to Houston rather than Toronto.

Priority should be Melo, Dirk, Bosh then Rondo/Lowry in the offseason.

Oh and for those who wouldn't want Melo are you friggin kidding me? You watch LMA destroy this team with mid range jumpers now imagine a guy who can do that and shoots 40% from 3!

Melo would be the ultimate stretch 4.
