Apparently you weren't able to understand the meaning of the movie. The movie title used with that movie was in no way racist. In fact it was the opposite.

You are entitled to defend the guy's racist comments and views. But it's not really okay to misrepresent someone else's work in the case of White Men Can't Jump.

I think you are completely 100% wrong. This is ugly and it won't end well. This whole thing is going to blow up. The Clippers season is probably over. Either Sterling will be forced to sell the team or all of the black players and coach will be able to leave. A possibly landing spot for some of them would be the Lakers.

This is so ugly. We all suspected he was a racist but now that it's public, the players and coach will be viewed unfavorably if they continue to perform for this organization without doing something. It won't end well. Something major is going to have to happen.

not defending his comments, criticizing the hypocrisy of the backlash

Wow, this was a pure set-up by this girlfriend, and an illegal recording at that. She was asking leading questions and goading him into saying something that he shouldn't. This context muddies the waters greatly. All of this assumes that the tape was not doctored, as Sterling suggests it may have been.

She cannot force him to say anything he doesn't want to say.

Sterling should be accountable for the things that come out of his mouth no matter what the influence.

I don't really agree with the outrage. He was expressing views, shameful as they undoubtedly are, which were common just a few decades ago. I would guess that plenty of people in his age range share such sentiments. It isn't a surprise that he feels that way.

Its one thing to make tone-deaf, racist comments in public as if there is nothing wrong with it. I could understand the huge media backlash and possible protests in this case. But it was his private views that were exposed to the public. I don't agree with punishing someone for expressing abhorrent views in a private setting.

Question: if one contributes money, employs people, and otherwise lends support to a cause, while simultaneously holding personal views that are the antithesis of the cause, is that a net positive or negative?

The fact that these views were deemed acceptable "decades ago" does not condone him saying this, especially since he hold a position of power as a owner of NBA franchise with minorities.

In a private or public setting, racism should have no place in our society.

You said that you don't agree with punishing someone for expressing abhorrent views in a private setting. When would this stop then? What does it mean for the rest of society or the NBA? Would this type of behavior/language be okay for all NBA owners.

That was the whole point of concluding it... Because of the constant jim crow and slavery mentality comments from Kenny smith, David west and others in this thread. Please read from beginning, I am making my point thoroughly and pointing out doc's (as well as others) hypocrisy.

If his girlfriend is being sued for embezzlement and said she would get even, then she sure got even alright.

If the tape was doctored that could change everything. But the fact that she set Sterling up doesn't change anything. The fact that she's being sued by the Sterling family also doesn't change anything.

Those are separate issues. Sterling still expressed offensive, ignorant, and racist feelings.

You seem very eager to white wash what Sterling said.

I will say that if it isn't actually Sterling on the tape, or if it was doctored that might change everything. It's best to wait and see if the tape is authenticated.

If it is, the fact that the woman has some issues, and is being sued doesn't really change anything about this issue.
