[NBA Gossip] Donald Sterling Hates the Blacks, Including Magic

I haven't read thru the whole thread, but has anyone posted that old story detailing how racist Sterling is?

Honestly, I don't get the whole firestorm here. I thought it was pretty well known that Sterling is a huge ******* and racist.

 

Simmons: Sad weekend for the NBA. Adam Silver's biggest test. Long term, they have to figure out how to get him to sell.

Rose: Clippers fan, love your team but if you have humanity in your body, don't support that organization as long as Sterling is there.

Collins: They got the most incredible leader they could have in the locker room. Important for the coach to keep it together. One voice will be important: Doc Rivers. Let him speak and rep the players and what they feel. They have to stay away from these distractions. The playoffs are tough enough without throwing in all this. Doc will do a masterful job with his team.

There wasn't much heat in that exchange. In fact, instead if it being that he said racist stuff in an argument, the argument itself was racist. The point of the argument was a racist position. Heat of the moment? Naw. Racism was the point if the moment.

If the recording holds up, it just fits Sterling's MO.

 

I agree with you. It has been well know in NBA circles for many, many years that Sterling hates black people, poor people, women and is a scumbag. I find it funny that Rivers and Paul are upset, both were well aware of the situation before they signed in LAC. Barron Davis even discussed how Sterling doesn't hide his opinions.

The players and coaches that choose to sign with the Clippers should look in the mirror.... They knew what Sterling was and is, but they wanted money or a shot at winning over principle ... Which is fine but don't then act shocked or angered.

I don't use this word a lot towards anything in life but I absolutely HATE racist ass people that choose to ignore that their world has changed and that most people don't care about those things anymore.

My kids are both have black and half hispanic, for some piece of **** like this to try and tell them to ignore their background and heritage is as ignorant as the slave owners that came before them.

His entire perception of "culture" is completely skewed and he should honestly be removed from owner of any NBA team. Among all sports to own a team you choose basketball, a sport in which the vast majority is black. How horribly and ignorantly ironic.

In soccer when fans are caught being racist they fine the club by forcing the team to play in an empty stadium. NBA should do the same thing and force the Clippers to play in an empty arena.

 

He's old as dirt. Lives like he's in the 1940s. Its 2014! Sucks to be a clipper fan. This can make the team think twice about playing hard for a scumbag owner. All members of the NBA family should be afforded due process which is why I'm not yet prepared to discuss any potential sanctions against Donald Sterling. We will move quickly. Donald Sterling has agreed he will not attend the playoff game tomorrow in Golden State

Not focused yet/so far on Sterling's past. Focusing on the TMZ audio.

Donald Sterling should be afforded due process as any player or executive would be.

Is this tape authentic? Interviewing Sterling, possibly the woman and the context of the conversation.

We do hope to have this wrapped up in the next few days.

 

This would be tragic. I picked the Clippers to represent the West. It would be a shame if this story put the brakes on what could very well be a championship run.

I'm totally with you. I guess the issue is the statements are recent and incredibly blunt and personal, even for DTS.

I don't blame him. Race relations is a minefield. The Lin threads alone should have told us that. We'll see if the tape is confirmed, but given Sterling's past history I'm not hopeful.

The NBA is going to be really tested over the coming months if this tape is authentic.

Look at how doc left the Celtics, he is a scumbag himself. Paul wanted a black coach to buffer the sterling situation. But this is an opportunity to force sterling out of ownership so they cannot afford to ignore it. Sterling is 80+ and doesn't really give a crap, the punishment will probably be in accordance with twitter backlash
