Where did Asik go? We built up nice leads in the 1st Qtr and again in the 3rd with Asik on the floor, using the Twin Towers. Why would McHale not bring him back late in the game when we started struggling and losing the lead? We got lucky on this one.
Rotation in Game 2 was so stupid...as well as many other things in the first two games. What the hell happened to Garcia?
Only Asik set great picks. But love the pick and rolls, we do great with them. Dwight can do it, he just dont wanna.
His adjustments helped contained Aldridge, and eventually forced Portland to go small (and keep Lopez on the bench) in order to free up the lane that Howard/Asik were controlling. Didn't like the Daniels-Lin-Bev-Parsons-Asik lineup he used to start the 2nd quarter. The Blazers were on the ropes, and he let them off the hook with that lineup. In hindsight, he should have kept either Howard or Harden in to give the offense a potential threat. But by the 4th quarter and OT, Aldridge was no longer even looking to shoot... that's entirely based on them getting stops early, and giving him different looks to get him a little bit more uncomfortable.
Still can't run an offense. It's frustrating to see Lillard and Williams getting easy shots off because they run plays and Harden and Lin have to claw and scratch to get buckets
started asik, doubled aldridge making them go small as nick said, left in daniels that won game for us(more conspicuously DIDNT play trashpi, hamilton, dmo) ran howard harden pnr (finally) and yet he is the worst coach ever and is mcfail. mchale is not red auerbach but he isn't as bad as everyone here says. Give the guy some f-ing credit for once.
Daniels should never be in the game for any extended period of time. His 2 rookie mistakes can easily cost us 4 points. I hope McHale will only use daniels in spot duties only for the next game.
man, how funny is it that it took something bad in parsons' foul out for the Rockets to win a game? Mchale did a better job tonight, esp with Aldridge. He lucked out with Daniels at the end. If a crucial defensive play was needed, he would've been burned alive not having Garcia/Dmo/Jones in.
Agreed. I don't think McHale wanted him in there... but with Parsons in foul trouble, and the Blazers going small, and Daniels providing more speed and better shooting than Garcia, he was the best option. But having Daniels-Bev-Lin all in, without either Howard or Harden, is a recipe for disaster. McHale tried to get cute when the Blazers put in most of their bench (and sat Aldridge), and it backfired big-time.
You watch Dwight on the perimeter all night guarding Batum? Of course he could do it, Dwight is a top 5 player.
I will give credit where credit is due. I will give McHale credit for finally making some adjustment to the defense on Aldridge and starting Asik w/ Howard. This is what we should have done the previous 2 games. And the pick n roll between Harden and Howard for alley-oop plays was great to see. And that Harden is finally playing aggressive and playing to his old self ...i will give Mchale credit for that.
he did great, lots of nifty adjustments, the only thing is the Harden/Howard PNR and the Lin/Harden PNR should be a big part of our offense, those are our 3 best playmakers
I was fine with using Daniels. He's a lights out shooter, and our other wings haven't been able to hit a shot decently for weeks now. Putting in Dmo would have just clogged the paint. Casspi and Garcia aren't exactly shooting well. And TJones has been a wreck the entire series since he ends up matched against LMA nor does he stretch the floor when he's in.
