we also had a superstar who put the team on his back on both ends of the floor. also we played defense that season also we had Shane and Artesticles
We're supposed to have 2 players that are the best at their position. It is a great luxury to have and no excuses should be made.
Rick Adelman is walking into the hall of fame. He's had the pleasure of working with Clyde Drexler, Chris Webber, Yao Ming, and Kevin Love in his career
give this team with the current roster as is and he would destroy the **** out of the blazers, and he might even get you to the final with this roster.
Incorrect. Other than Game 1 of the Portland series, Yao was just another one of the guys. He did not put the team on his back anymore than Artest or Brooks did. That team played as a unit and was getting the job done. One of the main reasons that team was good was because of the ball movement.
Plus, there's no other explanation how we still took the Lakers to Game 7 after Yao went down. I remember that was the first time I heard Phil Jackson give the opponent any credit when the LA media questioned why the loaded Lakers struggled against Houston: "Give the Rockets some **** credit!"
The most damning thing about McHale is that none of his bench players has confidence to do anything. Casspi, Lin, Garcia, Hamilton, Dmo - all of those guys look like they are playing scared. What does that say? How is that possible?
Everyone but Bev plays that way. Mchale just isn't what we need in a coach. We need a fiery passionate vocal guy.
Adelman's team in 09 was not as talented as this team but that team had WAY MORE HEART. That team also had great leaders in Battier and Artest. Dwight and Bev are the only two guys who have even showed some heart and determination in this series. The other guys have just been gutless cowards.
I'm an admittedly big Adelman fan but I am not sure just having him as coach things would be different. This is a young team and one that is still finding it's way. The 09 Rockets, one of my favorite Rocket teams, was a seasoned team. Adelman had put some key guys in place and had a vocal leader in Artest and a very smart leader in Battier. Yao had come into his own while also feeling comfortable with his teammates, Scola was also a smart and crafty player who thrived in Adelman's system and then Brooks brought surprising fire power. This current Rocket team while much more athletic and more naturally talented is not quite as smooth or as comfortable as the 09 team. More than a coach like Adelman I think they need veteran leadership. A Battier would be great for this team.
I agree. I think there needs to be a lockerroom voice that everyone respects. Battier was awesome in that way. This team badly lacks that. A Derek Fischer type is what this team needs. Bev would be great if he was older and more experienced.
