I think the validity of the post should be questioned because this is essentially the evidence that turns almost the entirety of Clutchfans against McHale.

This is not a slight against you

Actually, it only just confirms what we *already* knew, and that it's Sampson who was the brains behind the Defense. We knew this before McHale was even hired, and it was confirmed multiple times over the previous 2 seasons.

It's also why I raised the question several weeks ago over how much losing Sampson would impact the team's play off chances.

Dwight is not the problem. I mean really, what the hell kind of excuse is that? The guy was absolutely dominant from the second he touched the ball. It's the coaching staffs job to get their players to move off the ball. You don't stop giving Dwight the ball because harden doesn't want to play off the ball.

Morey let Adelman go and hired McHale.

    He made his own bed.

    Time to sleep on it.

I understand and you make very good points, but I'v never left a job without a well-thought out and executed transition plan being put in place to minimize impacts to my previous employer. An NBA team is much more important than a second-rate college program. If UH wanted Sampson, there should have been a transition agreement put in place.

Some of these posts feel like a narrative written by morey. Could be true but I'm skeptical. Leaking this is fireable.

Well then let's hope McHale himself leaked this.

I think that was mutual. I don't think Adelman is a coach suited for non-high seed playoff teams. No point in keeping him at his salary rate with the teams we were going to have.

There was a group who thought it or believed it without proper evidence. Now we have word of mouth evidence between Morey & McHale themselves. The Fire McHale group is legitimately armed now.

We shouldn't assume that there wasn't a transition "plan". Remember, we're talking about McHale, the guy who doesn't really understand X's and O's.

It probably didn't actually happen like this, but I imagine it went down like this....

Sampson : Ok, so I got a huge offer from UH to take over their program. You guys are going to be okay, right?

Morey : Kevin? You guys going to be okay? If not I can ask Kelvin to see if he can delay his leaving a while.

McHale : C'mon, we'll be fine. We've got lots of good assistant coaches here. And sure, Kelvin is coaching defense but we can handle it. It's not like we're chopping lumber!

Morey : Great. Enjoy your time at UH Sampson. I'll see about sending you some play off tickets.

    :p

I call b.s. on it too. It doesn't make sense. Kind of like the Jordan Hamilton thread cyberx started didn't make sense.

Maybe he heard something from a 3rd hand source. Honestly, I don't know how or why he even posts. It seems really stupid on his part if he truly valued his job.

It's past the point of trying to prove yourself. Post what you hear. If the moderators feel comfy enough to allow you to share then no one else should complain or question it. If you think he is full of ish then stay out the thread or ignore his posts.

Ok well then who cares...if you are legit then the facts will stand for themselves. Don't act like you are brand new to the internet. People are going to rip you for anything you say.

Again... Salary had nothing to do with it. Feigan reported McHale was offered the same exact salary that Adelman received from the Rockets the prior year, and JVG before him.

Yes, it was mutual, but it was because the Rockets were unsatisfied with the coaching staff as a whole, and wanted to force change to the assistant coaching staff which Adelman objected to.

IMO Morey had every right to ask for change in the assistant staff if there were one or more assistants not pulling their weight.

    ..........

Also Adelman did not fair very well this year with both attendance, game time rotations, and his overall record given the playoff caliber talent that he had.

McHale obviously isn't the best coach for who the Rockets are NOW (made sense at the time with a completely different situation & roster) but it doesn't mean that Adelman would have been the right coach this year anyways even if he WAS a better coach a few years ago.

The Rockets NEEDED to move on to another coach back in 2011 regardless because of the disconnect between Adelman, Morey, and his contentious relationship with Les (which he publicly commented on).

Water under the bridge folks. Adelman and the Rockets needed to part ways and Adelman wouldn't have been the right fit LONG TERM for the current Rockets team anyways since the guy unfortunately has family issues (health of Mary his wife) to deal with that are forcing him to retire and miss games this year.

Adelman WAS a great coach, I hope his wife is able to recover and maybe he can contribute to the game more in the future in some other way(maybe as a commentator or something like that), but he's not able to coach this current Rockets team regardless so lets just move on.

idk why anyone still questions cyberx at this point...dude has done more than enough to prove he is legit.

For what its worth, a buddy of mine got to know Kelvin Sampson during his time playing college basketball and he told me, before I even mentioned this thread, that Sampson was pretty much the only one who could get Harden to do anything.

I'm not claiming to have any inside sources in the league or anything...I just happen to know one guy who is friends with Sampson. The fact that he and cyberx are saying the same thing makes me think its definitely true...especially after looking how Harden has played since Kelvin left.
