The reason the players rave about McHale is that he doesn't hold them accountable(well, except for maybe Lin who he has no problem benching). That's why I hate the term "players coach". It's a euphemism for someone who'll allow the players to do whatever they want. It's the same crap that Rudy did in the Francis/Mobley era that led to 4 straight lotto seasons.

What this team needs desperately is someone who commands respect as a coach and who will have the stones to bench Harden if he's not trying out there. Someone who actually understands X's and O's and in-game adjustments. And someone who can institute an effective offensive and defensive system so that come playoff time, you're not just winging it out there.

 

That's astonishing. I've always been lukewarm about the McHale hire but at time he actually looked like he had improved. Then stuff like this happens. Even before reading this thread I was furious after the first two games. LMA is annihilating us two games in a row and you don't even try to double him? Not even as an experiment? Poor, poor game planning. And don't even get me started on defense. Make room for me on the Fire McHale bandwagon. I'll bring the booze.

 

Our defense has been **** since Kelvin Sampson left, am I the only one noticing this?

 

Kelvin Sampson was a **** maker on defense. He's only talent was looking like the half brother of Larry Flynt.

 

Sampson had the cojones to call harden out on his D or lack thereof

McHale has zero authority over players and I doubt they respect what he says or fear him in any way.

Mchale wasn't hired to coach a championship caliber team.

The goal was to suffer through mediocrity for a few years with him..and get some good players in the draft.

It's time to hand the keys to a real coach.
