This has happened to my wife 4 times in the past 6 months and three times for me. Luckily Amex calls on any suspicious activity and the POS thieves were not able to get anything at all. NOTHING worse than a ****ing leaching thief.
this happens everywhere... which is one of the main reasons why the US is moving to chip and pin / emv (albeit late to the party) The Ingenico 3070 reader for example was affected. The reader was on the PCI approved list and was unprecedentedly pulled off the list. I contacted our vendors to find out why and got stonewalled. I was able to determine that a skimmer was successfully used in Brazil on the 3070. They told me it was the first time they've ever pulled a device off PCI. Always keep an eye on weird looking sleeves or anything out of place at an ATM.
Y'all are making me paranoid. I don't see any weird charges but who knows what they're tacking-on at bars.
check to see if your CC has an option for alerting you anytime a charge is made over a certain amount.
I would do this but I'm not good at math. Plus I don't want to look like a b**** pulling a calculator out at dinner or at Luby's.
Not playing a SwoLy game today. Sorry. Everyone with a brain knows exactly what I meant. I'm very sorry that doesn't include you. What is honestly and not sarcastically sad is that I've just added someone to my ignore list for the first time since leaving the D&D. Mostly I've been "un-ignoring" people b/c they are mostly fun and interesting outside that forum.
Thanks for announcing it ^ ! And just because "everyone with a brain knows exactly what I meant", doesn't mean it's correct: 31.13 isn't "symmetric." Too bad you won't see this:
You wanna get REAL paranoid? Supposedly, all someone has to do is walk by you with a certain scanner, and they can pick up your CC info if your card is rfid enabled. http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/...credit-card-fraud/rfid-credit-cards/index.htm http://www.snopes.com/fraud/identity/pickpocket.asp They say the new cards are not susceptible to this kind of hack, but it is theoretically possible and you know the crooks are always working towards getting your info without having to touch you or your cards. What may not work well today could work tomorrow.
No. Not 31.13 as he proposed. THIS is CORRECT ^ and I agree with you there. Just "phone" is probably SMARTer if he cannot compute simple addition and subtraction without "pulling a calculator out."
Thanks for making us ALL paranoid ! I guess we really are living in the "Big Brother" era now, I mean it's becoming impossible to hide anything these days! (from the government or crooks)... ....... ....... .......
