Combination of OT, ton of fouls, referee replay reviews, and it was a nationally televised game which gas much longer timeouts.
Good for you, I'm glad you got your priority straight but Basketball is just a game. Taking care of your family comes first and that means not losing your day job.

And it's not just "one minute" My brother came into my room and asked if I wanted something to drink. I said "24 sec" He went downstairs, got food, ate it, when upstairs, pissed, went back downstairs skype with his friend, went upstair and asked me "now?" I said "10 more second in the game, stop doing drugs"
Midway through the fourth quarter about a third of the seats were empty. I know it was a late tip-off but come on it is the playoffs. The overall environment in the fourth quarter and overtime was pretty pathetic and not the least bit intimidating. You would not see that many fans leave early in Portland, OKC, Utah, Boston, or NYC during a close playoff game. I expect that out of Miami and LA but not Houston.
Yes it does. When you factor in traffic timeouts, and game stoppage because of calls and review of certain calls.
It was still plenty loud in the arena in OT when a lot of people left. I have no issue with people leaving games early.
This. There was a MASSIVE flood to the restrooms between regulation and OT. The two people next to me left before the end of regulation, though... but they also refused to put on the shirts or even stand during the national anthem/intros, so I was not surprised. :-/
So do I and I live on the east coast. No excuse and it's why we will never be a real basketball city. Pathetic. Houston fans suck. That's the truth.
I stayed until the end, but I also don't have a kids/a family yet. I didn't get home until 1 and waking up by 6 for work wasn't very pleasant, so I can't really fault anyone with the late start and extended game time. I'm just glad most of the people that left were only taking restroom breaks.
normally i'd be mad about that kinda ish, but it was a very late start and ppl mostly have to wake up early to go to work or kids have school, meh i wish they'd start it earlier
To be fair -- if you're on the east coast, I presume when the game was over you could just turn off the TV and go to sleep, rather than spend 30 minutes trying to exit the parking garage, fighting traffic back to the freeway and driving home. I stayed until the end, but I was a complete zombie this AM... and I also don't have kids or any of that other peripheral stuff to worry about.
The people next to me left with about 30 seconds left in the 4th, came back for overtime then left with about 30 seconds left in overtime... I was pissed! But a lot of the people were using the restroom.
That's an 8am class. How the hell are you going to compare a class, that you can probably skip, for an 8-5 job. The job that pays your bills for you, your wife, and your kids? Big difference there. Don't compare school to a real job. I was there till the last second, I work early. Leave at 6, get in by 6:30. I went to bed at 12:50, woke up at 5. Today, I'm going to bed no later than 9. And I need to catch up on sleep. I do not blame people having to leave early. Heck someone came in late to work today, they were at the game, they got in trouble. They didn't leave early.
I was there, and I think the crowd did their job. The arena was packed early, just about everybody wore red, and they were amped. I was so into the game (getting pissed at the refs) I didn't notice if a lot of people really left. I will tell you it was painful this morning trying to get the kids ready for school and function at work. There's been plenty to criticize Houston fans for over the years, but last night was not one. The Rockets failed the crowd, not the other way around this time.
I agree, the people that were there and stayed to the end were great. The Red Rowdies really fed the energy. I've never been to a game where the entire crowd picked up on their chants the entire game. It was awesome.
