Preposterous. Taking a profile of someone's posts during a game in which I both praised and criticized him means nothing. You're reaching.

STILL waiting. Did you actually read what you posted because it confirms exactly none of your accusations.

I'm done with you in this thread. Call me a racist in D&D if you like, I'll respond there.

You know, arguing about race isn't going to help. If you want to make a point, why don't you guys chill out and PM each other? These kind of topics don't get anywhere with finger pointing and only incite the Mods to move Lin threads to the D&D. So step back and if you want to talk about it do it with ease in private or in D&D?

    Yup, this is the one.

This is the post that turned an already terrible thread into an abortion.

Please take your commentary on race to another forum. This is a basketball forum.

Problem is that their definition of "succeed" is inconsistent. For example, take last game. Lin played very well and did almost everything that one could've asked of him besides sink the game-winning shot.

But some people here point out that Shaqtin' shot. Or that time he let Lillard get past him. Or that TO he had.

Unless Lin plays like a flawless superstar, they'll always find ways to criticize him. At this point, they're too invested in his failure to be truly fair.

Blasphemous! You couldn't contain yourself with tears of joy whenever Lin messes up. You are lying.

LOHs do this in pretty much every thread. Where is the outrage? I just called out one habitual hater. He's been trolling many threads in the GARM.

Ok now I'm interested. You said...

suggesting over-representation of that ethnic group at Harvard as evidence for "fair treatment" (that's how I interpreted it, so if I am mistaken, and you were trying to make another point by that statement, please correct me and clarify what you were trying to imply)

    Another poster replied

basically suggesting that "over-representation" by itself doesn't automatically imply fair treatment. Can you clarify how the two things are dissimilar?

The point of the original article about Ivy League admissions linked to by other posters on here was that people from a certain ethnic group had to work harder (they needed higher academic scores) to have the same chance to be admitted as whites. Regardless of whether they are over-represented or not, data suggests that they may have to meet a higher academic standard to be admitted. Would you characterize this as fair? Or will you at entertain the possibility that maybe this is a unique obstacle faced by a certain group of people in this country?

That would be great, but how do you PM on this forum? Or is it possible at all?

eh... I've noticed some "Lin critics/skeptics/haters" also say they were satisfied with his play yesterday without saying anything else. I've also noticed some of them kind of "temper" their compliments as soon as some LOF's start getting obnoxious about it (like some of them wouldn't have made any criticisms until some LOF's try to rub their faces in it).

Not going to go into who started it first, or whether a portion of these LOF trolls are people pretending to be LOF's, the point is it's kind of a vicious cycle made worse by people on both sides with hostile attribution bias.

Best to hope for is for Lin to continue to play well, and help contribute to Rockets wins, and everyone will be happy.
