Nope. I suspect his tear is in an area with little blood flow (a.k.a. an area that won't heal unless it is a very small tear). A small enough tear in this area may or may not heal in a month or two. From what I read, surgery has variable results in this area. If surgery is not an option and it is too big to heal on its own, his knee could be as good as it is ever going to be after inflammation went down.

Whether he ever has problems with it again, I have no idea. I just suspect it is in an area that will never heal due to the lack of blood. As plenty of basketball players never have this injury, it may never be a problem for him again. Playing basketball injured it so I suspect he could always make it worse having a similar action that caused initial injury. Playing now or playing next season would have the same risk if it is in an area that won't heal and surgery isn't an option.

Basically, I see three possibilities. One, it is so minor he was able to return without jeopardizing his career. Two, it will never heal, but it is minor enough that doctors think he can still play with it. Three, Rockets are jeopardizing his career. I don't think Rockets would go for three. I hope for one, but fear it is two.

Good to hear. But it doesn't defeat the fact that McFail need to be reminded that he needs to be smart in coaching's strategy.

    1. Why not have Harden guard Batum?
    2. Why not tell Harden to attack the basket more instead of settle for 3pts when you only need 1pt? Why he didn't attack all game long during the 1st Half? Where is the coaching?
    3. With 2:05 minutes left, why not burn the time down to 1:99 and insert Hoard into the game to prevent Hack n Howard? This will give you advantage in rebounding.
    4. If nothing work, why not play zone defense? And oh....how come I never seen a single double teaming of Adridge?

Just because he's cleared to play doesn't mean he will be 100%

I hope he knows his limits this game, because we seriously need him for every single game. I don't want him to bust his **** up when it's only game 2.

I saw two double teams... Asik and Jones once in which LaMarcus split the defenders... and Harden provided support in which he whiffed in a reach.

I have a better idea - McHale, play him 40minutes! (what will actually happen is much closer to that than to limited minutes).

Why is it either have Bev start, or not play at all.

That Bev will be available for Wed's game does not mean the Rockets should start him. Given the limitations in his ability to stay with Lillard that we saw in Game 1, I would think it would be better to go with Lin starting. Have Lin do a lot of offense; tire out Lillard. Have Bev come off the bench, to play with either Harden or Lin. LET BEV heal a little more before throwing him out there to do 30+ minutes.

If we need him, yes. But I suspect based on the first game of this season against Portland where we soundly beat the Blazers in PORTLAND. The Rockets will be alright with Lin. Save Bev for when we will really need him.

Beverley doesn't know anything but 100%.

Only game 2? Game 2 might as well be game 7. There is NO WAY we come back from an 0-2 hole going to Portland.

Wow. great that Bev is ok. We need him bad.
Dude needs to play smarter though. I love his aggressiveness but he's gonna end up hurt at this rate.

They should play him either very limited mins or shut him down completely. With or without Bev, the Rockets aren't winning a championship this year. This team has a long way to go before it can compete for a title. Last night showed that. It's not worth the long term damage that can occur to his knee that would both negatively impact his career and the trajectory of the Rockets' team.
