How can Morey be so smart with assembling player talent and SOOO dumb with assembling coaching talent? Also, I would love to see Thibs here. You wouldn't see all of this hero ball with one person dribbling for 20 secs and then jacking up an ill-conceived forced shot with 4 seconds to go with the other 4 players standing in concrete, SMH!
Because he is power hungry and found a yes man. Not many people believe in his philosophy to the extent he wants to implement it.
Mcfail is the worst caoch in the league, his team's talent has been able to hide his inabilities so far, but I hope it shows in this series, time and time again in crunch time we see what his time outs lead to, ISO, this guy wouldn't know what a set play was if it hit him in the face.
Coach didn't make Dwight miss all those free throws and coach didn't make the refs make all those bad calls.
I hope and beg he is just being diplomatic about it until the off season. He was quick to pull the trigger on JVG and Adelman. He can't possibly be dumb enough to stick with McHale (the worst of the three) for too long, can he?
Morey says coaching only accounts for 4-5 wins in the regular season. Guess what that's A LOT! That's not what is important though, in the PLAYOFFS, where teams are evenly matched, coaching MATTERS A TON. Can be the difference between winning and losing.
I was opposed to the hiring of a mediocre coach like him. Imagine the stupid concept of a head coach, who needs his assistants to draw up plays for him and tell him what to do. He couldn't get through the players after LMA went to the bench. Hey DM, it's time to get an experienced coach and some defenders on the team. Anyone but Sloan will do.
I don't care who the player camping out is. When the Blazers game plan is to bring Howard to the 3 point line so the Blazers guards can drive uncontested to the ring - you *****ing tell your big to stay home and protect the paint. I hate this guy beyond words. Imagine what Harden - the clutchest player in the league - could accomplish with a coach who actually knew what he was doing when drawing play calls. Imagine, down one possession and inbounding. You: - pass the ball to Harden at the sideline - Dwight posts up on the same side - Parsons, Bev and Lin go on the opposite side of the court (Bev in the corner, Parsons at the free throw extended ready to cut in) - A H & H pick and roll - pick your poison with Harden taking his man 1 on 1 of Howard's big helping freeing him up for the wide open alley In some universe... I'm sure the Harden dribbling into traffic play is just as successful. I'm sure of it. Otherwise - why would McHale do it?
Harden had a horrible shooting night as well. The Rox didn't execute and didn't look sharp enough at times. Some nights the shots are not going to fall, that's when your defense needs to come up big. Rox had a number of collapses on defense that were huge and ultimately was the main reason Rox ended up losing. Teams far too often get very easy shots on the Rox.
All hail stuttering, stammering, "sticky" quoting McHale... and his superior coaching intellect.... we mere fans no not of what we speak....
McHale DID take Dwight out and NOT put Asik in to replace him. That's entirely on McHale. Dwight deserves heat for bricking enough foul shots to make himself a liability at that stage of the game, but when you have a defensive weapon like Asik sitting there on the bench, FREAKING USE HIM!!!
