That defense was sooooo bad and I don't know how to describe it. Four straight possession Lillard had a wide open lane straight to the basket. Until Rox can find a defense-mined coach, they are not going anywhere.
but this team playing **** defense has been going on for more than 3 years now. i thought it would improve with the addition of dwight howard. unfortunately it only cemented the fact that mchale has little or no interest in that side of the ball.
I thought he was outcoached tonight. But it wasn't his fault Harden goes 8 for 28 and it wasn't his fault the refs made bad calls down the stretch.
And do we not have the suckiest inbound plays in the entire league? Harden NEVER gets a clean release. This one took 7 seconds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0R-nvfw5OY
I will be disappointed but not devastated if the Rox lose this series to Portland in the first round because I won't allow myself to have high expectations of this team with a coach like McHale. Bad coaching always gets exposed the most in playoffs.
sorry if anyone mentioned this already, but why didn't mchale go with the Lin Harden Pick and Roll, that was very effective all game
When Howard was on the bench and LMA was going at it with Jones, he should have put Asik in the game. Who cares if he had 5 fouls, it was the end of the 4th quarter.
This was basically the way I felt with the Texans losing so much last season. The one bright spot was I knew Kubiak would be gone and that could possibly change their fortunes in the future.
Steve Clifford Tom Thibodeau Doc Rivers Dave Joerger Mike Budenholzer Erik Spoelstra Rick Carlisle Jason Kidd Frank Vogel Dwane Casey Kevin McHale Gregg Popovich Scott Brooks Terry Stotts Mark Jackson Randy Wittman West playoff teams: Rivers Joerger Carlisle McHale Popovich Brooks Stotts Jackson
It's funny Lillard could just walk in to the paint whereas down the other end Harden had trouble penetrating. Both rubbish coach. But the drop off is significant.
Morey says that head coaches are maybe responsible for +/- 5 wins, well those wins become a little more serious during the playoffs. He needs to rethink that outlook.
