When it seems like each round of playoffs take forever. There is so much rest available in the nba playoffs schedule. Just look at each schedule and see the series spread apart for a good duration.
Teams usually play every other day though. And if your next-round opponent finishes their series before you do, you would follow the same schedule while they get to rest until you finish facing your first round opponent. Keep in mind that you've only just finished an 82-game regular season. It can take a toll.
Shoot I remember the Rockets had the oldest roster in the league when they acquired McGrady from Orlando. It ended in disaster.
My bias is to favor the older roster in the playoffs. There are definitely historic examples of old rosters having an obvious disadvantage in quickness that doomed them. But, in general the savviness, level-headedness, and experience that comes with age is a bigger advantage than young legs. And age diversity might be the sweet spot, if a roster has a core of veterans to keep the team on an even keel, and a couple of key young guys that can plug athleticism deficits when that becomes a problem.
