for the record, here's a list of Vernon's coaches throughout his career

    Larry Brown
    Chuck Daly
    Greg Popovich
    Rick Adelman
    Don Nelson

Five HOFers and legends. But Rudy was "the best coach I ever had."

So true. IMO, the greatest single moment in Rockets history is when Max hit the 3-pointer to put the Rockets up by 7 with about 1:30 left in game 7 against the Knicks. That was the magical, clinching moment when we all realized they were going to win a championship. For me, it tops Mario's Kiss of Death.

Those moments are up there in the stratosphere with Sampson's shot ...tough to top THAT.

    really great interview...

i would actually like for the team to practice in the dark, barring injuries...think it would be beneficial

I have to admit I was thinking along the same lines. Max was crazy on the court, but REALLY crazy off. I heard some great stories back in the day. Can you imagine what it would have been like with the internet and media coverage today? Yikes.

Of course he's going to say that, Popovich, Don, Chuck and Larry all did not play him much or didn't keep him around long.

It's too bad Maxwell couldn't keep his head straight off the court. He could've been one of the greats. I always like to bring up how he was one of the few players who could get into Jordan's head.

I see a lot more Mario Elie in Beverly than Mad Max.

That it doesn't hold much value coming from Max, we know Rudy was a great coach ;) It's like him saying he knew they would win the title and admitting that if they were going to lose to the Suns, he would go out shooting the rock. It's all not saying much, especially considering it took him until the half to come out with fire in that crucial game 3.

I can agree to that, though Mario's Kiss of Death is also the stuff people will remember till they die. On Maxwell's shot, notice that there was no hesitation whatsoever, something that a certain pg needs to learn. Be decisive, make it or miss.

That video made me cackle audibly.

The casual tossing aside of Starks. So satisfying.

Really, really happy to know Max isn't homeless or in a ditch somewhere.

Perhaps in toughness, but not in the way both Maxwell and Bev played suffocating, in - your - face defense.

Fact is: Rudy got the significantly more out of Maxwell over 5 HOF coaches. :p

It's like the joke: The only person who can hold Jordan under 10 points is Dean Smith. The only people who can contain Maxwell are Larry Brown, Popovich, Daly and Adelman

Maxwell and Joe Dumars. MJ always singled those two out as his toughest challenges. That's high praise. It just goes to show that physical ability is just a small part of making a superstar. Loved me some Maxwell.

I agree. Just tell him to leave the gun and barbells at home;)

I kid, I kid. Maxwell is definitely a Rockets legend. Clutch City forever!

The Rockets outlasted New York in seven games. In the last one, he scored 21 points in front of a Houston crowd, and the Rockets won 90-84.

"It was so crazy," Maxwell said. "The city was going wild. It took me literally four or five hours to get out of the stadium. The streets were so packed. It was so crazy. It was a great night. It was wonderful."

    goosebumps

    f***ing ay!
