Texans didn't really start to explode till Kubiak took over and the team acquired legitimate depth/talent... by then, the Astros were tailing off.

Also, just look at the lack of Rockets talk/interest right now... and that's a team that is top 5 in the NBA with legit stars.

Some of that is TV-related, but some of it is also the sheer popularity of the NFL vs. everything else.

Ok, I thought this part of the country had been "football country" before the Texans "exploded" with the great Kubiak era in the mid 2000's.

I also thought that the reason there was not much talk about the Rockets was because 60% couldn't even watch them. Did not realize it was all because of the Texans

Good thing is, we might not need to worry about the whole "Springer Fiasco" cause it's starting to sound like we won't have any sports around here other than the Texans soon anyway

Hey, I'm just saying what the general trends are... I didn't make them, and I actively follow all three teams with great interest.

Yeah because the Astros would love to pay the $150 million it would owe in fines if it broke the HSA deal

And on cue, following the "biggest" story of this season thus far (Springer call-up), the morning show topics are:
610 - the ramifications of urinating on the Alamo
790 - Clowney has a devastating swim move.

Thankfully, Matt Thomas has #georgespringerday trending on twitter, and you know Charlie will be all over it this afternoon.

But all-in-all, national feeds (Gammons, keith law, espn.com, mlb network) continue to do a better job of covering this story.

Ok, LZ was talking about it while I was driving in to work this morning

And again, what I've said is they would be a focal point of talk radio if they were winning and on TV, neither of which is the case unfortunately

Sweet. This will give me a reason to check the box scores after games.

Taking baby steps to being an Astros fan again.

Not handing out big contracts in order to afford more talent=winning

It's a business, and you make the most money when you're winning.. People need to get over it, they are delaying his FA to guarantee that we will be a better baseball team.

    Yup.

It's rich that a former player clearly perturbed by this rule thinks he's objective enough to decode the "message to fans". Look, CJ, I get that you think it's a bad rule/precedent for players and you want to stick up for them. That's fine. Just stick with that message, as opposed to forcing a theme that isn't there. That's trolling.

    Ha... CJ.

When I was growing up, I went to Baseball USA to get an Andy Pettitte autograph but CJ showed up instead. That was more of a crap job than keeping Springer down for a couple weeks.

Well, the more "obvious" cases such as this just gives the healthy/strong union another negotiating point at the next CBA renewal. Everybody is aware this is an issue.
