I finally weighed in with my vote, after largely lurking this forum for a while (due to annoyance). On the initial pole, I voted Bridgewater. Now, I voted Manziel, but my preferences are this: 1A. Manziel 1B. Clowney 2. Bridgewater 3. Mack I'll be okay with any of these. Manziel, I like because he has the drive, in my opinion, to potentially be great. That was something I wasn't totally convinced of before. He also has a better arm than I thought. If he hits his potential, he will be the next big star of the NFL. I love the idea of Clowney, I'm just not sold that he's a sure-fire lock to be great in the NFL. I think he relies too much on athleticism, and that can be neutralized in a big way in the NFL. He relies on his inside move, which is predicated by quickness, and this can be taken away at the next level. Once that is taken away, can he bend around the edge? I just don't know. I like Bridgewater a lot. He shows up on tape. His pro day sucked, though, which shouldn'tmatter tthat much, but it is a bit of concern. And is he too timid to be a leader? Not sure. I'm not as concerned about his frame, though. I think he will probably end up as the best quarterback from this draft. Mack is great, too. He's like Demarcus Ware with better coverage skills. Bobby, who thinks he knows it all, will say that Mack doesn't have the pass rush skills that Ware does, but I disagree. He's shown the ability to bull rush against a second/third round tackle prospect. Small school concerns me, though.

Johnny Manziel – QB – Counterpart: Fran Tarkenton All anybody could remember former Giants and Vikings Hall of Famer Fran Tarkenton for was his uncanny ability to keep plays alive by scrambling. It drove defenders crazy. Then when he retired people realized how good of a passer he actually was, finishing with the most yards and touchdowns at the time. Johnny Manziel is a very similar kind of player: small but elusive with rare instincts to keep the play alive and then find that receiver down the field for a big play. Yet at the same time he’s becoming better and better from inside the pocket. As with Tarkenton, underestimate him at your own risk. This is the best comparison out there. I saw many of Tarkenton's games and JM reminds me of him more than any other player. They are obviously not identical, but very similar. If JM becomes another Tarkenton, he will take some team to the Super Bowl.
This is shaping up to look like last year's draft when maybe just one or none of these quarterbacks get drafted in the 1st. I still believe Sammy is the best available "sure fire" player amongst the top choices but I've never voted on the poll because there is no "trade the pick" option.

It'd be great. 8 teams with an 8 week season starting after the Superbowl. Teams in cities like San Antonio, Portland, Salt Lake, Tulsa/OKC, Las Vegas, etc. You could have one team affiliated with each division in the NFL. Draft kids straight out of high school or college underclassmen and stash them for developmental purposes. Plus the wonderful side effect of cleaning up NCAA football by allowing talented players to go earn a paycheck. Also, it would have a chilling effect on the whole "NFL franchise to move to X city!" thing we hear every year.

Correct. He doesn't know so he'll predict everything at least once. "They took Clowney and I had Clowney in my 3rd mock. Turns out I was right!"
Why do I have such a strong distaste and lack of respect for this guy? ...oh, I forgot. Because he's a complete hack.
I dont really care for Pancakes but in his defense he has openly declared that he hates doing mock drafts but that his employer forces him to do so. He follows the same methodology of all the other Mock draft hacks: just pick a different pick every mock draft so that at least one will be correct.
So go work at Best Buy, then. You're a professional sports-writer with 30+ years of experiencing working in the Houston market. You should live and breathe this stuff (when your piehole isn't clogged up by Bisquick and syrup, that is). Beyond that, you should have enough connections to actually be able to make semi-intelligent predictions. Our sports media sucks so hard. Thank God for Berman.
I'm sure we'll see a blurb on rotoworld or wherever. "John McClain of the Houston Chronicle has the Texans taking Jadeveon Clowney. ... We're only noting this because no one is closer to the Texans than the respected McClain so this is notable." lulz
If pancake walks back his QB #1 prediction...I'm just saying. Are you freaking kidding me? This guy has been steadfastly saying QB since Feb. someone ought to tell McClain that using your station as a journalist to actively publically lobby the team to draft a position or player you want is unprofessional.
