Majority of Texans know how beautiful the highways that run through the Hill country are. Any other highways clutchfans brethren have driven through and were impressed.
I'm a huge fan of FM roads in general and can find the beauty in the backroads, no matter what part of Texas. Sometimes when I'm going to visit my parents in Georgetown, I worm my way up through Bellvillle and hit 1457 off of 159. That road to Round Top is nice with the windows down. I always loved the trek from San Marcos to Wimberley, but it's been a while since I've driven that one and I imagine there is a lot more development out there now. We recently went to Fort Worth and stopped at Dinosaur Valley SP on the way home. We took 6 from Meridian to Waco and that was a part of Texas I'd never seen. It was a very nice drive.
After living in the Northeast and visiting the Northwest many times it's hard to find a "scenic" road in Texas...
I've lived in the Northeast for 10 years now, and just last week took a drive on 290 out from Houston to Austin. Thought it was beautiful.

Clearly your previous residence was superior. Why do you choose to live in such a crap hole as this state? I encourage you to follow your heart and go back north.
I think Austin has some of the best scenic highway in Texas, so I would say Austin is on the top of the list.
I second the East Texas comment. Especially deep East Texas. The Davy Crockett, Angelina and Sabine National Forests areas are gorgeous, peaceful drives. Few other cars, great smooth roads, pine trees, lakes, fresh air.
