Can Dwight and Bev really mask this team's horrid defense?

Dwight changes everything defensively.

 

If you can at least hold players to their average you don't have to worry about being clutch and all that. Don't matter about mchale & his defense scheme. Parsons talks all the time in interviews with media about how we are contenders and all that. We'll have some pride, play D lock it in, get home court, shouldn't take a coach to have to stop these numbers, these are NBA players they should want to win as bad as anyone else.

After watching the Rockets perimeter defense the last seven games, I am SHOCKED that people are still trying to minimize Beverley's impact defensively. I mean, seriously?

 

The post defense has been bad as well. What know no discusses is that the defense we get at the PF is some of the worst in the NBA. Jones gives us blocks and that is important but not enough. Howard has covered his ass all year.

So, right now you have one plus defender on the floor in Asik, and he doesn't prevent penetration like Howard. As a result the defense has collapsed without Howard and Beverley.

The Rockets really lack depth as well which makes it worse. My guess is during the off season the Rockets add a smart defensive 4 and 2/3 swing defender for the bench. If Anthony goes to Chicago, the Rockets really need to consider Taj Gibson. He would go a long way to making the Rockets a top 5 defense.

 

Brewer can't shoot!!!!!!!!!!! That's what makes the 51 points so embarrassing - he cannot shoot well at all. Just give him space and let him shoot.

 

Problem is, scrub wings and guards have been going off on us ALL year, with or without Bev - does he improve things, yes - enough to be the difference in a series - probably as he is a big upgrade over Canaan.

Seriously though, this sh#t ain't that hard. Aren't these coaches paid good money to do basketball year round? They should be capable of stepping up and doing this. Otherwise, clean house.

 

Our defense is much, much worse overall without Beverley, it's very obvious.

He and Howard are our defensive anchors.

 

The only reason why Beverly got injured was because he was masking this teams horrid defense. The more I watch with and without Bev the more I notice. Getting into someone's face deserves decent compensation. Bev does it on less than a pension plan.

 

Asik looked like a light pole trying to stop Brewer. Dude was cemented to the ground. With Dwight, Brewer doesn't crack 40, which i know is still a lot, but they only lost by a bucket.

Bev would have gotten back much better than Parsons/casspi, lin, Harden...so he probably defends a few of Brewer's breakaways much better...

so yeah, we need both..

 

There are just so many bad defenders on this team... Take your pick between Garcia harden parsons casspi and jones... Basically 2,3,4 on this team

Really, i'm not even sure why this is a question...without these two, it's basically last year's team, who we already knew was bad defensively. That's the reason why we got Dwight and why Bev earned a starting spot. It should be no suprise..

 

Bev shouldn't be guarding guys that are 6'8". It would be a waste of his talents.

 

Haha. Instead it's on Bev to guard 6'8" wings. Bev would have helped the last game by hindering Rubio enough to get us the win. Brewer would have gone off anyways with or without Bev. Howard is the true game changer though.

 

Anyone listen to the pre game where the coaches and staff were concnerned that nobody stood up for Parsons after he got leveled by Turiaf? Beverly and Howard would have been up in his grill.

 

How good of a defense would the championship Rockets have had without Dream?

I mean some guys are just that important, Bev is that guy on this team.

If the coaches and staff are concerned about that, then they're concerned about the wrong things...

 

Its hilarious how Clyde and Worell are actually saying that that pelicans are playing hard like THAT is an excuse....absolutely pathetic

That being said there is obviously a lack of game planning on defense, i dont know what the *** these coaches are doing really.....KNOW WHO YOU ARE GUARDING!!! KNOW WHAT THEY DO WELL AND WHAT THEY ARE **** IN

And please for god sakes learn or at least try to implement a defense for the pick and roll with SET rotations at least....something, anything, We are playing scrubs and they still put 59 points at halftime....UNACCEPTABLE
