I don't mind us losing. What I do mind are bad decisions that cause us to lose. I hope McHale has a plan ready for the playoffs. If I'm left scratching my head with the lack of timeouts during a run or weird defensive coverages or untimely player rotations or lack of in-game adjustments or predictable crunchtime plays....then Mchale needs to go. He's had enough time with this core so he does not get a pass anymore. He needs to be held accountable.
Morey doesn't want to waste Les' money until he feels we have a contender. This roster is not DM's finished product, and when he has a contending roster I am confident he'll find the right coach when the timing is right.
That's right folks... unless you're built like the Miami Heat.... 3 "superstars" + complementary fodder.... you're not a contender... Morey is still building.... along with 99% of the league...
timberwolves just out hustled the rockets tonight, we have no backup center, it took morey to long to get one, mchale can't get out there and guard brewer hisself, parsons has to step up on D he has all that time to do interviews etc but can't take charge and guard brewer, mchale called a great out of bounds play late in forth y'all still complain ?
McHale has been saying the same dumb stuff for over a year now, nothing surprises me anymore. He's just not that smart and it shows. Now only Alexander and Morey need to realize what it takes to be a contender and that is not with McHale as your coach.
We've got the superstars in place but the rest of the team isn't built yet. Our 5 best players are Harden, Dwight, Omer, Chandler and Lin in that order in my opinion. Harden and Lin have a completely overlapping skill set (read redundant) as do Dwight and Omer, we also don't have any 3pt shooters that are substantially better than league average. The assets are there to build with and they will be used soon. I define contender as a team with a >20% chance to win a title and if people think we are beating Portland, SAS, OKC/LAC, and MIA in consecutive 7 game series more than 20% of the time then I'd like a hit of whatever they are having. I think when the team is at the SAS/MIA/IND/OKC level (which I think will happen quite soon) we will find a more than adequate coach leading the charge.
why didn't he put Hamilton on Brewer? anyway it's our typical late-season collapse. It's happened every year McHale has been here. last season, we went from 6th seed to 8th. The year before that, we lost 6 straight after we had something like 97% odds to enter the playoffs. This year ... look, McHale should have rested Harden and Parsons these last two games. Save them for the last two games of the regular season when we will get Pat and Dwight back. They need to build their cohesion back again.
Username irony. How in particular does McHale cause the team to lose the last few games of every season?
You haven't been here long? That's a good question we should be asking McHale? The season we had Dragic and Lowry, it was because McHale insisted on playing Scola and PPat in the 4th as our frontline and ignoring Dalembert on the bench. His love for small ball is well-documented. Last year, it's because Harden was worn down already at end of season yet they allowed him to do his isos at the end of games. This year? We should be resting Harden and Parsons and allowing the rest to get more PT. Nah, he insists on playing starters long minutes and still end up with a loss. If Harden slows down in the playoffs, we know where the blame lies. Two games in a row, Harden gets banged up. Morey should be calling McHale up and telling him to play the bench guys more.
ROFLMFAO!!! How did McHale turn Harden and Parsons into the worst defenders in the league?!! Cant be from letting them play 40 min. a game?!! Never gonna come close to winning a chip with this Turkey!
Harden played all but 2 minutes. against the fkn timberwolves minus love and that other guy. WHAT THE **** MATE
the lack of adjustments by mchale was so overwhelmingly frustrating. i can't even fault the guys for running out of steam at the end of the game (parsons and harden) because they logged such heavy minutes, but why didn't mchale go to the bench when the starters were clearly disinterested in competing? popovich would NEVER have stood for this embarrassing performance from his main guys. i always take a look at the bench after harden gets blown by his man, or someone doesn't run back on D and gives up an uncontested layup. and i just think, popovich would be screaming his ass off immediately the minute ONE of those defensive lapses occurred, take a time out and make DAMN sure his team knew about it. and then i look at mchale throughout the course of the game and he doesn't reprimand any body the entire 48 minutes. i like mchale and am willing to give him the benefit of doubt for now, but come playoff time, if nothing changes, this dude has to go. we might be starting to find that the late-season collapse is no fluke.
Well believe it or not, but there's been a trend with players becoming terrible or worse defenders all of a sudden. Parsons was a great defender his rookie year, Harden was adequate with OKC, Asik had 2+ blocks per 36 with Chicago, 1.1 PER 36 his two years in Houston. Howard is having his lowest block and steal total season in years, and believe it or not, Lin was a pretty Damn GOOD defender with NYK. And that's nothing that you can fake, like a shooting streak.
That the team does not play well at the end of the season is worrisome. Sure, Dwight came on board but its not like this is a new team. They should know their roles and have chemistry and team identity by now but they dont. McHales is a poor judge of players and from that stems his inability to maximise his player's strengths. This team is is schizo! I have no confidence in what to expect from them in any given game let alone a playoff series. All the true contenders have team character and identity... you know what you're gonna get. They are steady not streaky. And our defense... WILL... NOT... WIN... A... CHIP... WITH... SH***Y... DEFENSE
Whenever a coach says "I don't know what to do" in his post-game comments about why his team can't play defense, that's enough for me to show them the door.
Exactly, McHale might be a player coach but he most definitely can't get his players to team defense. I never seen a professonal team look so lost on defense. It's like they never played defense before in their lives. McHale needs to call Coach Pop or Sloan for some advice, because those two coaches don't play with their players. If they are not given it their all, they will get benched period.
