Add in the 326M Crane pissed in the wind to buy the Network, there goes the "money to compete for championships".

Not if you understand how the network is valued and what value would be retained with its dissolution.

Just kill it already. Send in a drone to bomb the headquarters and move on.

Thanks for the updates, but did you really think that a solution would happen. Remember, we HAVE to keep the fans best interest at heart. Or at least the ones that already have comcast.

I already did earlier, but again, much of the valuation of the network is based on it controlling the Astros' and Rockets' media rights - but he gets those rights back if the network falls apart, so he's not losing all that.

The total price Crane paid was $618MM. It's not like the Astros part of that was worth $292MM and CSN-H was worth $326MM. Had there been no CSN, Crane would have paid more for the Astros. As an example, the Astros alone were valued at $474MM by Forbes in 2011. He'll lose something because there was value created in the network that he was paying for, but he's not losing anything close to the listed purchase price.

Take off, nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

Honestly...streams for baseball are pretty good. And if you don't wanna use streams, there are chrome extensions for MLB.tv so there's no blackout. The rockets had about 1/4 of their games on national tv, and every once in a while you'll find a good stream. You can also use the same chrome extension to get around the NBA league pass blackout. So it does suck that I can't just turn on my tv and there try are, but I don't have to work that hard to watch the games. Bye Csn, didn't need u anyways

I see your point. However, I still say Crane isn't going to get what he thinks is AL West competing revenue.

Probably not. The Mariners, Angels and Rangers got their money while the getting was good. Also...note that none of these teams partnered with Comcast. The Mariners partnered with DirecTV, the Angels and Rangers partnered with Fox.

Les and Drayton decided to partner with Comcast. As soon as the ink was dry, Drayton abruptly decided to sell. Coincidence? Maybe, but it sure does raise questions.

Certainly that could very well be true. He may have missed out on the heyday of big media deals at this point. It will be interesting whenever all this shakes out to see what the media revenues will end up being.

Yep, how the Astros and the Dodgers and others who have deals coming up in the future do will be interesting. Even the mighty Yankmes have a large group of fans who just lost coverage because of a carriage deal. We are moving into a different time

    Anyone have slingbox?

I have Comcast at the office..just had someone suggest to me last night that I should run slingbox from there to my home. Duh. Honestly, can't believe I never thought of solution before.

If you've used slingbox, how good is it? Does it work well?

I have one and it works great! Only thing is make sure your company doesn't have the watch slingbox site filtered out of Internet. You get a good HD picture with it though

Remember back in the day when Les tried to make playoff games pay per view?

Tried? All non nbc home playoff games were ppv till the team made the playoffs again in 2004. That included both title runs and the Barkley/Pippen era.
