Thanks. The TV show explained most of that, so the Capt America movie is a parallel timeline? picks up where the TV show left off? Because I saw a particular character discussed in the TV show in the Capt America commercial.

Guess we're going to the Regal Imax this weekend.

Yes. The last episode made a lot more sense bc I watched CA2 earlier in the day.

So are we all just gonna ignore the weird new love angle? Also, I agree that there is no way Ward is actually a bad guy.

Yea probably, but it sure would be cool if he was. The bad guy with shades of grey are always the best characters. They have been giving undertones of the Skye/Ward love angle all season, not sure why people are so surprised by it, actually going there helped add to the surprise finish.

Most of Captain America 2 happens between/during the last two episodes of Marvel Agents of Shield except it centers on Captain America and Shield Headquarters. Marvel should really have put a spoiler alert not to watch this week's episode of Agents of Shield before seeing the movie.

I would hope he would go bad so they could kill him off.

I hate cross-overs... I'm not one to go and watch a movie on premier day so this episode slightly spoiled Cap2.. oh well., the show is getting better at least. I like that the black guy is going to be on the team. Simmons loves the brothers, man.

No joke right? Once you go black...poor Fitz, lol

I kinda kept up with info on the show so I knew beforehand that this week's episode would deal with the aftermath of Cap2. Even though i would have seen the movie opening weekend anyway cuz I'm a big fan of Cap

Also talking about Ward being a bad guy. I think he is simply brainwashed like the other chick and once all the bad guys are taken down he will need to redeem himself like the Winter Soldier will.

This show has gotten so much better since Bill Paxton. I'm very intrigued by Patton Oswald next week.

It is pretty clear to me that one of the core concepts for the show from the beginning was to use the Marvel films and their releases as a framework. The TV show is essentially the same thing that movies do with webisodes and extended content writ on a grander scale. The TV show exists to grow the various movie franchises where Marvel is banking so much money. Also similar to what Marvel is doing by linking all of their various franchises together. The super complex cross promotion model is what makes the Marvel movies special as a cash cow. I'm sure their strategy can be summed up as, "crossover everything".

Early episodes crossed over Avengers.a bunch. Then they released Thor 2 and crossed it over a bunch... I suspect they'll be referring regularly to Capt America 2 until the next Marvel franchise release. The show is effectively an hour long weekly prime time infomercial for whatever film Marvel has up next. And Marvel doesn't have to pay for the air time.

But we know who the Clairvoyant is, in the show...do we not?

I haven't seen Cap 2 yet, and I watched AOS last night. I...shouldn't have done that, lol.

^ Point is, was the person playing the Clairvoyant, in Cap 2?

I believe the Clairvoyant they were looking for was the guy they arrested at the end of the episode.

There really is no Clairvoyent, it was all an elaborate plot laid out by Hydra with the sole purpose of finding out how Coulson was brought back from the dead. Nick Fury kept that so close to the vest, not even the high ranking Hydra members knew it.

Bill Paxtons character just happened to be the Hydra member that was best equipped for that mission, which I guess could techinally make him the claivoyent because it was his mission, but he is not at the top of the food chain. The actual leader of Hydra is dealt with in CA.

I guess it depends. Clairvoyant could be the mastermind or how the mastermind knew what would happen. The guy arrested was most likely the mastermind.

Edit: I like how sealclubber put it. It was his mission. He was the mastermind of the mission. If he died, HYDRA could easily have replaced him with someone else and no one would be the wiser.

I don't think he was the true leader of Hydra. I figure there is going to be someone higher up in the shadows. Like Red Skull resurrected or Baron Zemo

I know that they've planned out Ward to be a traitor since the beginning, but I wonder if they had plotted the entire season out as a Hydra-infiltrated SHIELD. Might have to rewatch the episodes to pick up on clues and stuff.

Yeah I know, but he was always more of a right hand man then a leader. Of course this is what I take from the comics anyway so you're thinking could be correct.

The monster of the week episodes in the beginning likely will kill the show. They are getting trounced in their time slot and if I wasn't a Marvel fan I would have abandoned it. These shows cost more to make than their competition.

Hopefully the cross promotional stuff is worth enough to keep it around even if it bleeds millions of dollars. The show has taken off.

It stays true to it's characters and is now a fantastic show.

Doesn't Disney own both ABC and Marvel? While Agents of Shield might not be doing as well in the ratings that they can reuse characters, talent under contract, and do tie-ins to the movies probably saves them some money. As this thread shows it is probably also generating a lot more interest in the movies and driving fanboys to watch the show.

Paramount did some of this type of integration with Star Trek and did tie-ins between the movies and the shows so this type of thing has been done before.
