For me, the exciting part is the integration in WP as well. Yes, it is down the road, but the concept of bringing together all these devices is great. Maybe it's a distance away (2015 Holiday season), but that isn't far off. Your attitude is like MS is talking about this being in 2020/2025 kind of stuff.

Actually my attitude is MS lies like crazy. I don't believe the impact on performance will be like they're claiming. It certainly won't make it as powerful as a PS4; if you believe that you don't understand technology.

Any of you guys catch the big bang theory last night? Pretty funny episode about the PS4/XB1.

So you're saying as it stands the xbox one is running at its highest efficiency and the DX engine can't improve? That's some serious fanboyism right there or some mad respect for Microsoft and the xbox dev team. Could it be better than the PS4 as it currently stands. Yes. Does that mean Sony will not make similar improvement in the mean time? Hell no, but it isn't Microsoft's job to speculate what Sony will or won't do.

The exciting part, at least for me is the idea that I can buy an app for my phone, it'll run on my PC and my xbox. If you think MS is also lying about that technology, then you aren't paying attention to all things Redmond.

The problem with this is that XBO already has low-level API access. DX12 will essentially be offering that for PC game developers. It will be huge there, but XBO already has that. It has to. Console development is always like that (why bother with "higher level" code that won't run on anything except the XB platform?). You can't go much lower than where it is already at (and if they weren't already that low, someone dropped the ball, even if DX12 is coming along). The article I linked to earlier explains this well. DX12 will help with porting games across all these platforms (and that is a big deal!), and it might also help smaller developers with XBO games.

Fanboyism? No, it will never be able to push the polygons a PS4 does. Again, you're showing a serious lack in understanding of technology. Will the Xbox performance improve? Yes. Will there be a consistent gap in performance? Yes.

Microsoft has shown the ability to redesign their GUI and add quite a bit of features. Again, there will be a performance increase on the Xbox. Perhaps even a large one, but you're sitting here reading their press releases for an update that won't come for almost 2 years and thinking that will erase the performance gap between the two consoles. That however, won't happen.

PS4 is in the lead with over 6M (maybe close to 7M at this point, tough to say). Wii U is probably right behind (~6M). It might technically be ahead, but it has been out for much longer, and will likely be in "last" place soon. XBO is at around ~3.5M I think. Maybe close to ~4M.

Sales for old consoles have more or less fallen off the cliff after the holiday season.

The cloud computing presentation was impressive, but I just kept thinking about how many games they will switch it off for that will become unplayable when the user base falls far enough or they want to force you to buy a new game.

Here in Aus you don't see PS4 marketing any more. Xbox is killing them in marketing terms. Not sure how that translates to sales though.

I got Titanfall yesterday and it's a lot of fun. I think the game I'm looking forward to most right now though is Elder Scrolls Online. I've not played any of those games so it will be my first in the series. Looking at some of the PC reviews, it looks like it will be great.

Sigh I have enough stuff in life going on, but that games looks dare it say magical.

So a PS4 port for TLOU is pretty much confirmed now:
    https://store.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/#!/en-us/home/games
    http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=798968
The page for the banner doesn't work, but it is showing for the SEN site now. And yet....still nothing from Sony. I think the game will be in stores and available for download before Sony officially acknowledges it. Wonder who did the port. Doubt Naughty Dog spent time on it (hopefully). Bluepoint has done a lot of things like this for Sony in the past (and IMO, would be a good pick). And speaking of Bluepoint...

    http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2014-titanfall-xbox-360-performance-analysis
Digital Foundry analysis of Titanfall for the 360. It actually is really impressive. It is certainly not as good as the XBO version. Lower resolution, worse textures, etc. But the framerate is pretty decent (average 46 FPS IIRC, and they have a 30 FPS lock option to minimize tearing), and it does seem to be feature complete. Some are saying they're "almost identical," and while I wouldn't go that far, I think this is more damning for Respawn (at least the technical people there). The 2 versions should not look/perform so similarly. FWIW, it seems like Bluepoint implemented texture streaming for their version of the game. As NeoGAF joked, perhaps Bluepoint should have ported Titanfall to the XBO (and hell PC) too.

    Edge looking for attention:
    http://www.edge-online.com/news/can...l-spencer-phil-harrison-and-more-to-find-out/
"Can Microsoft turn things around for Xbox One?" Peter Molyneux has some damning words for Kinect, but then again, Molyneux's opinions are usually all over the place.

edit: PS4 is putting up PS3 numbers in Japan now. Yep, that's the Japanese market now.

This makes me happy. I want to play TLOU at some point, but I'm not going to spend money on it because I really didn't care for the Uncharted games at all. If they are doing a PS4 port -- which seems to make great financial sense for them -- it becomes even more likely that the PS3 version will eventually show up on PS+. I'll be more than happy to play it if that happens.

They just released "Kinect Sports Rival" on Xbox One. Finally, a reason to have the Kinect for playing a game. I'll be downloading later this week.

The reviews I read are pretty awful, I don't know if you want that to be your reason for using kinect.

Well since XBO owners HAVE to have the kinect with their system there is nothing wrong with it. At least they're giving you something, but you would think since they are forcing the kinect on you that they would have more AAA titles set up down the line.

I know Ryse: Son of Rome was originally supposed to be a Kinect title but for whatever reason they decided to make it for controller use

I plan to eventually get a PS4 camera. I like that we have the option whether to get it or not. I think Microsoft would have sold more Xbones if they made their camera optional.
