you guys don't know how horrible TMZ "sports" radio is. they did a huge lineup shift at 570AM FoxSportsLA and added this recently.

it is the worst concept for radio I have ever heard of- get a bunch of people in a room shouting over each other and gossiping about athletes.

Interesting to see some of you tune into Charlie everyday despite "hating" him. Being able to recall specific things from various shows, continually updating and cataloging your dislike. Humans can be total goofballs.

How else do you think Josh Ennis pulls a paycheck?

Yeah, he's an unbiased non-homer who still supports Houston sports, and has for over 20 years.

Also, he's not shooting down the all-time greats, just not proselytizing them through complete homer-ific glasses, and that is a breath of fresh air.

Biggio wasn't the greatest 2B of all-time, Warren Moon was not the greatest QB ever, and the Jordan Bulls would have given the Hakeem-Rockets a tough series (regardless of what their handful of regular season games said). As far as Hakeem vs. Duncan, simply seems like a strange comparison... skill-wise, Hakeem hands-down, but career-accomplishment-wise, Duncan certainly holds his own.

Again, you'd have to be a blind homer to get "upset" at any of the above statements.

my point is he absurdly bashes down our all time greats, i didnt say biggio was the greatest, but try and tell charlie he was better than alomar or sandberg and the dude will have a heart attack, and as far as warren moon it's just an example not putting him top 5 or anything

I'm not a big fan of Charli, but I can name five QBs that played in the league with and/or after Moon who are better: Montana, Young, Marino, Manning, and Brady. Moon def isn't top five.

Edit: I just reread your, post... Nevermind.

Charlie is pretty unbiased from what I've heard. Don't think he's a Houston sports hater i'm sure it just gets grating having to take calls from enough homers and idiots (because who else really calls in radio shows) eventually you have to sounds like a hater just because you're always disagreeing.

I hardly listen to Charlie anymore but can see why people love him and why people hate him.

The last real hater was Josh Innis but luckily he's long gone. Now that A.J. guy from the blitz is trying to be like Josh (hating on Rockets alot from what i've heard) and it just seems forced.

    I can't stand nick wright.
Guy belongs on a gossip rag or garden channel with that voice.

His voice and opinions are so terrible that I can't stomach more than a short period listening to him

They run promos with his voice all weekend talking about stuff that happened on friday.

Other day I accidentally was passing through the dial and this nick wright tool is trying to engage john rocker on twitter like some little annoying attention w****. if you suck so bad that you have to resort air time to trying to troll john rocker for attention then outright suck at life. Can't believe he has a job.

Also MT doesn't talk about sports. He might be funny but try counting how much guy talks about sports and it's 5%. Not sure what you guys are smoking on MT. Dude is TURRIBLE. This is not dallas and if you like him I have to question if you are from dallas since its the kind of BS they love up there. All gossip no sports radio with shi**t polls all day long. What a joke.

I do like palillo, seth payne and that's about it. I will say houston sports radio is a notch above LA radio simply because of pallillo. I admit I am a palillo fan boy but have never read his blog. It's clear he is doing what he is told by management.

Come to think of it how many carpetbagger hosts do we have out there- rich lord, johnson, pendergast, payne, granato, wright, meltzer?? geez.

Pallilo has been here long enough he is allowed southern status and payne was an original texan :). To the rest of them I say - YANKEE GO HOME

Biggio wasn't better than Alomar or Sandberg.

In general Pallilo is ardently objective when it comes to sports. He views everything through objective and rational glasses and gets bothered when people's fandom clouds their glasses.

Ask this message board whether Hakeem was the best center of all time and look at the results you'll get. I love Hakeem, but he was not the best center of all time and he wouldn't make a 1st, 2nd or 3rd team all time all NBA roster. Pallilo can't handle people who can't deal with simple facts.

haha, what an odd pairing. Gossip rag or garden channel, lol.

I definitely don't understand the appeal he has to anyone that's for sure.

I'm a big fan of MAD Radio (do they still call it that?) though. Meltzer is awesome. Not sure why he hasn't gained traction. He's Charlie P lite with less arrogance (and less knowledge sure) and more fun.

Nick Wright is okay when he actually talks about sports, but it really bugs me when he reads tweets on air. Really any host who reads tweets on the air should just be sacked. It's lazy and horrible radio.

Lopez is a boob who (apparently) is a basketball guy - but never talks about the Rockets.

Jim Mudd (producer for Nick and Lopez show) should get more air time, as he's funnier than either one of them.

Lance's shtick got old back in the 90's after he and Granato left 610.

I like Palillo but I think he still needs a co-host. Oddly enough, I think Rich Lord would be perfect as I really enjoyed their show back in the day.

I've honestly never listened to Matt Thomas since I only listen in the car on the way to and from work. Surprised so many here like him.

Who is your 3rd team all NBA center....Wilt. Kareem, Bill Russell all have arguments. Wilt and Russell faced each other and a bunch of shorter Kevin Kunnerts.

That's the point though, he doesn't talk sports and it's all about tweeting and contrived garbage.. also classic contrarian on EVERY topic.

if you have to resort to baiting john rocker on twitter live on the air you suck at life.

I just can't stand him. He embodies everything about sports radio that sucks all into one person. SUCKS so bad it makes me hurt to live if I hear his voice.

They also portray him as a ladies man of great renown.

And of course 610 slurps John McClain.

I don't want to get into the argument honestly. Hakeem is my favorite player and I would put him on my all time team out of my own bias. Outside of Houston however, very few people pick him higher than 5th behind Wilt, Kareem, Russell and Shaq. Some put him ahead of Shaq but typically that's as high as he gets.

I disagree about the knowledge part. He is confident and arrogant about his stuff but not always right. He knows baseball a lot, but his takes on CURRENT affairs concerning the rockets and texans especially are often way off base

Like what? When he says James Harden doesn't play consistent defense? Or when he says the Rockets are usually out-matched at the PF position? Or when he says Jeremy Lin is usually not the best PG coming off the bench for either team?

Or regarding the Texans, when he says he doesn't believe any of the QB's are worth the #1 pick? Or when he calls it that the Texans will cut Daniels and Manning?

I actually think his baseball knowledge, while sound, is more biased than his more objective views of the Rockets/Texans. He wants the Astros to not be a laughing stock, and even though he admits its by design... he ends his takes with, "it doesn't take a genius to tank miserably".
