I actually think it's gotten off to a much stronger start than last season. Remember, the Drew Thompson arc really didn't get started until around Episode 5 after the stupid Randall/Lindsey detour. I'm intrigued by the potential of the Boyd v Johnny thing, especially now that Cousin Johnny has a real crew (Avon!). Too bad they didn't do more with the Canadians.
Slate clearing episode, lots of characters off'd and set up for the future, intrigued to see where they go especially between Raylon and his boss.
I was upset about this at first, but then found out that the actor wanted out and wasn't under contract, so they had no choice. Sucks though. I was expecting a lot out of that character.
Hate it. I keep forgetting this is the penultimate season, so things need to start heading towards an endgame at some point.
Didn't like the season too much. It was more of a setup for the final season. I saw it as more of filler to move the pieces where they need to be - dissolve Ava and Boyd's relationship, make Boyd the center of attention in all nefarious plots, and give the Marshals reason to finally make their case against him. Weakest season of the bunch. But it sure does set up for a fun final season.
Thought it was a pretty weak season, the main villain was offed with little to no effect. It's like they just moved him out of the way to get the pieces in places for the final season which seemed rushed in the last episode.
I thought the season was okay. I didn't care about Ava's subplot, but I guess the payoff was worth it. I understand the complaints about Daryl and the Crowe clan being a bit lackluster as big bads, but I think the idea was that unlike the Bennetts, the Crowe's weren't necessarily all that formidable or dangerous, but rather they were a major nuisance to everyone, sort of like an invasive species. Next year should be really good.
For what I'm accustomed to in Justified, I thought the season was middling and the finale was weak. If this leads to an awesome final season, I'm good with that.
Not their best season, but that's just because they set a high bar. It's certainly better than most tv shows even when it's not at its best. I was not interested in the Ava in prison story line and at times wanted to just fast-forward through it, but it did set up what she's going to be doing in the last season.
Wonder how different the 2nd half of the season would have been if the Haitian hadn't flaked out and quit the show.
I tried to get into this show... got 4 in. Man I just couldn't handle it. It was like NYPD Blue/CSI or whatever meets King of the Hill.
Yeah, they probably had to scramble and that's why there wasn't a very good villian this year. I'm having a brain fart right now, but where did they leave off with Mary Steenburgen's character?
