    If you don't understand that the fractional reserve banking system is basically a ponzi scheme, it is probably not worth having a discussion with you.

    Not sure if I want to get rid of it. It's certainly not sustainable. But it seems like a Ponzi Scheme.

    And if it is a Ponzi Scheme, how is it legal? Bernie Madoff went to prison for it.

    I know what fractional reserve banking is. But could you explain how it is a Ponzi Scheme? Because I'm not making the connection.

    Pay as you go is not the same thing as a ponzi scheme and Obamacare is neither. (SS is the first)

    The only thing that seperates fractional reserve banking from Ponzi Schemes is the fact that the Federal Gov is guaranteeing funds.

    Like a Ponzi scheme only works if you keep finding investors.

    What on earth is the basis of thinking Obamacare is a ponzi scheme? :confused:

    Why not ask "is the sky a ponzi scheme?"

    Ponzi schemes require an endlessly growing number of people to fund the previous people. Obamacare is fully funded annually. If you delete it one day, no one loses anything they were promised. SS requires future revenues, but it doesn't require more and more people. Ponzi schemes, by definition, fall apart when you run out of people - that's not the case for either of these.

    This is one of those examples of stupid threads getting deservedly stupid responses.
