Dragon was better than Lin in 2012, but I thought Lin had a higher ceiling (two years younger, less NBA experience). So I was OK at the time: let Lin take his time develop, and if we suck, we get higher draft pick. Obviously, wrong...

BTW: is Clutch of Slovenian descent? He's been the most vocal fan of both Bostjan and Dragon..

Bad Phoenix team? They are going to finish with 48-50 wins, most likely.

My stomach upsets whenever I see Dragic play great. He dropped like 16 pts against the Thunders in one quarter the other day. Man oh man.

    Dragic
    Harden
    Parsons
    TJones
    DH

    Bench
Bev, ICan, Garcia, Hamilton, DMo, Asik

    :(

Man, Morey will never live this down even sporting a team of Dwight Howard and James Harden... SMH. Can Lin's contract really be considered bad if it is only for 3 years? 2/3 of the way done already.. he will be off the books soon enough.

everyone complaining about lin's contract... just wait til it's an expiring contract next year - highly valuable. same for asik.

morey could trade both in one move and acquire a max salary in return.

Yeah, I know, but the Dragic and Lowry situations were trickier than Harden and Howard. DH was proven and everyone wants him, so that was mostly pitch work by committee. Harden trade was great, but he was kinda known, kinda, plus the going price was Kmart and Lamb and picks, that was a relatively easy decision and we lucked out that Harden was available at that price. Now had we somehow kept Dragic or Lowry, and they turned out as they are now, that's a true test to great GMing. Just saying ... we got the luck, but not the vision. Well, we can't win everything, can we. The same can be said about the Thunders letting Harden go, Spurs letting Scola off for Vspan.

The Rox offered Dragic a contract, which he didn't take and quickly moved on. What makes anyone think he wanted to stay?

We have no way of knowing, but the only tidbit of information we have is that the sticking point was the 4th year that the Rockets were only willing to partially guarantee. So given that he would've been leaving a couple mil on the table to play in Houston, it doesn't seem unreasonable to think that was the reason he chose to play in Phoenix. (Plus he can now opt out and get an even bigger deal).

He wanted to stay since he was doing so well here. The thing is that he wanted a players option (more guaranteed money) and we didn't give it to him. Phoenix gave him the contract so that is why people are upset.

I still don't believe it was the player option. That's just a good excuse for Dragic. He was smitten with Phoenix, for whatever reason, and was itching to go back. Like I said before, Phoenix was the one that got away for Dragic. He wasn't going to let that happen again.

It's hard to believe that Dragic wouldn't insist on the 4th year instead of 3 more highly paid years though.

    I mean, he took a 4year deal for $30MM that's $7.5 mill a year. Apparently he wanted $10MM a year from Houston.

Houston probably offered him a Lin-like contract for 3 years at $8.5MM per for $25MM. To me, seems that he could have maybe bumped it up to $27MM and then what's the worst that happens to him, he's got to make up $3M in a year to match what he got with the Suns? Assuming he didn't suck or retire, he probably would have ended up better off.

So I don't know...seems to me that if he really wanted to be in Houston he could have made it happen.

Didn't we have a Dragic and Lin watch thread? Many of us really thought Lin was better, I mean many of us ... Carl, many of us ...

I knew Dragic and Lowry were pretty darn good players back then...so am i surprised that Morey got rid of them?? I was but at the same time ....i thought Morey want to get rid of EVERYONE ...it DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU'RE GOOD OR NOT...that's why he got rid of Scola and Martin. He basically want to reshuffle the deck. So why are we complaining now?? It's not that he got rid of them because they suck...they got rid of them because HE WANTS TO RESHUFFLE THE DECK!! Deal with it and move on people!!! Stupid thread in my opinion.

Big deal. Morey sucks big time.

He could have added Lebron and Durant to the roster along with Harden and Dwight. Now we are struggling to hold on to the 4 seed in the West. I can do a better job than him.
