No, "sources" from different teams were the one pushing Geno hard "Physical competence?" Bridgewater is more than physically capable
1. The only place he was highly rated was in the media, and now they are backing off. 2. He really doesn't. He has a tiny frame, small hands, and isn't very athletic. He's dependent on gloves to be able to get a proper grip on the ball which means that he will be prone to random bouts of gross inaccuracy throughout his career. He might turn out to be a decent or even good mid to late round project type QB, but he shouldn't even be in any serious conversation about the top overall pick.
1. You don't have any clue how teams are ranking him http://www.nj.com/times-sports/index.ssf/2014/03/eckel_three_personnel_men_try.html 2. Tiny frame is garbage please approach with something more. Kaepernick, Tannehill and Vick had small hands, Bridgewater's hands are fine, they are derek's carr's size. Stop with the complete conjecture, he hasn't had accuracy issues with the gloves . He is top 5-10 pick and should definitely be in the convo, especially over all the other qbs
Oh well if you can't be swayed by 3 random anonymous members of an anonymous team making lukewarm comments about Bridgewater then how can you be swayed right? I agree that his tiny frame is garbage, show me a QB in recent memory who was 6'2 or more and under 210 lbs that was a good QB in the NFL. I'll wait. Luke McCown? Colt McCoy? As to hand size, you just pointed out 3 guys who aren't any good at passing....how does that help you? Also, if you took an objective look at his film, you'd see accuracy problems that don't show up on the stats because the balls were caught, a lot of them would be knocked down or picked off at the NFL level.
SMH. How about you take a look at the perimeters again. Drew Brees 6'0 Russell Wilson 5'11 Mike Vick 6'0 Joe Theismann 6'0....and he retired in 1985 Doug Flutie 5'10....and was he really any good?
So far, the ones that have been leaked... Derek Carr - 20 Carlos Hyde - 9 Jimmy Garoppolo - 24 Ra'Shede Hageman - 13 Chris Borland - 32
So in other words, no. Not recent at all. Keep trying, I'm sure you'll find one example of a successful recent QB that was 6'2 or taller and under 210 lbs.
Why are you so obsessed with that metric? I'll admit it, there isn't many if any 6'2 and 210 or less qbs playing. Doesn't mean that they can't Joe Montana was the greatest ever and he was 6'2 and 205 pounds
It's not a metric, I'm just pointing out that in the bigger, stronger, faster NFL of today, guys with tiny frames don't make it.....hell even Montana had an injury plagued career and that's the most recent guy you can point to with a similar frame that had success in the NFL and he happened to have one of the greatest O line's ever protecting him.
You forget that the NFL was even more physical back then and less forgiving on qbs back then Montana had amazing pocket presence, instincts and a genius football IQ Very easy for your o-line to look HOF caliber when your qb can maneuver the rush while keeping his eyes down field, able to leave the pocket when he absolutely need and extend plays and can diagnose a entire defense pre snap to make the optimum decision
Yes, the smaller, weaker, slower guys of 25-30 years ago were "more physical" than the bigger, faster, stronger guys of today, but you are also forgetting (read: conveniently ignoring) that your one example was protected by an elite O line and still struggled with injuries his entire career....
